Just got to say as I've not seen many comment on it, that was great support today from our fans, especially when going one down we kept singing and I thought the kop was defeaning at times. Always thought forest fans were decent but actually thought they were very quiet today, xaparr from when they went two up.

We may not get to Wembley, but still to play for, but I think everyone can be proud of that support today from our fans.

Just thought we should be proud as most weeks we've been self critical of the atmosphere at the lane.

I think it was good considering we conceded early on and played poorly.

Couldn't agree more.
I've always been on the Kop for as long as I can remember, so I don't really appreciate what it sounds like when we're singing at full volume, from other areas of the ground.

Moved from Westfield corner to Kop today and couldn't fault the noise. To the point was genuinely hard to hear Forest pre 2-0.

I wouldn't stay permanently due to 0% chance of a beer

Genuinely thought Forest were awful, and that’s not me being salty. Sang for about 5 mins after the 2nd goal and that was about it. Brilliant from our fans and sitting on the Kop it felt like old times. Hopefully our fans Tuesday will be the same

Saw a video of forest giving it the big un after the game and got chased I'm not a big fan of hoolie shit but they were giving it to kids and families so they deserve what they got imo

Decent atmosphere. The late goal has made the second leg completely different. Don’t think at 2:0 we’d have a chance but that has given us a sniff now.

I was on the John St middle to kop side (i normally go on the kop), and to be fair you could here the Forest fans which to be honest so you should when winning for most of the match. But credit to our fans who were great and never gave up.
The 2000 that are going on Tuesday need to match the Forest fans today at least.

Really good atmosphere considering how we played. Nobody got on their backs and it was really supportive. Back of the kop so probably unfair but didn't hear Forest at all
You not been on Porktalk then I bet the word Library gets a mention.

One of the best atmospheres I can remember at the Lane. Started chanting well before the kick-off which used to be common but is quite rare nowadays. The red and white stripes on John Street looked great too.
The pictures look good now I've seen them, but I felt pretty strange holding up a white flag at kickoff, I have to say!

Sat on South Stand, Kop End. Forest sounded LOUD. The acoustics probably better in the upper tier. Another reason NOT to give it to away fans.
Kop were loud, but only 10% of the time did people around me pick up the chants, singing on my own like a nutter. We shouldn't just let the kop do all the work.

That’s fair, I’d like to hear what the away fans atmosphere is like from south stand and John street stand. Probably gets drowned out when your on the kop. And definitely, got to get behind the team

Couldn't hear the kop from the SS. Very subdued, hence the ' Is this a library' chants.
One of the weirdest aspects of giving forest the BLUT is that its actually the loudest section of the ground, acoustically speaking.

Because the kop is a single bank stand, with a really high roof, and has one open side (on the Cherry Street end) - a lot of the noise escapes and doesn't carry as well across the pitch, which is why we often hear away fans criticising our support when we think we've been fairly loud.

Conversely, the BLUT is enclosed on all sides and has the added boost of the curved sides of the BLC, which helps to keep the sound reverberating within the stadium. It's a large part of why the Lane can be so loud and intimidating when it's packed, see the Fulham match for a recent example.

Couple that with the fact that it's higher up, which naturally allows for greater projection anyway, and we basically gave them their own little amplified amphitheatre to party in.

I was sat towards the Bramall Lane end of the Family Stand and it was actually hard to hear parts of Greasy Chip Butty at times, not because they were singing louder, but because of the acoustic effect of them all being packed together in that little bowl above us.

Little things, big differences.

I was already writing my post when you posted this, absolutely correct 👍🏻

I'm a qualified acoustic engineer with over 15 years of experience, and the BLUT is 100% the best area of the ground for crowd acoustics

Wouldn't disagree with you but it's been quiet, acoustics or not, for 23 games this season.

I agree it's been quiet at times, and that's a statement on our home support in general which is another discussion for another thread...

...but on marquee matchdays when we're going to "sell out" like Fulham, for example, I feel it'd definitely be advantageous for our fans to have the BLUT (in a purely acoustic sense).

Especially because, as you say, our home support can sometimes be a little quiet...so we should be using everything we can to our advantage!

Even more of a stupid idea to give Forest that part of the ground. Has there actually been an official reason given for this decision? I just hope those in charge learn from this in the future.
