might be sacrilege but i like Chris Waddle. & his return to 5 live isn't a day too soon. as a pundit it great to have someone thats passionate & is afraid of what people might think if its the truthand raise you, Chris Waddle.
As the number of football clubs not producing printed match day Programmes grows. Once United are engulfed in that trend. Then there will be a gap in the market for a printed match day programme/Fanzine/thingamabob produced for each match. I've explained elsewhere that for away games where clubs were not producing programmes, the Carrier Bag Firm were sourcing "fan editions" from UKRAINE & subsequently Belarus.Truth of the matter is, club-made content (beyond social media) is always going to be pretty dreadful cos they have a line to tow.
It's why fanzines are better than programmes.
Why BladesPod and Tufty Club and United Way are better than the club-made equivalents.
Put the same 'tow-the-club-line' constraints on any presenter, and the end result is dull. Rawlings and Walker (plus guests) are all fairly experienced presenters. It's not them that's the problem, it's the format. They are, to quote Mighty Boosh, about as edgy as a satsuma. And that would be the fate of any presenter making the leap from 'fan-made' to 'official'.
I smiled at Benjamin Bloom when he sat in the Westfield Upper a few games ago (and he smiled back). The Mrs said "who was that" - normally only get that when some women smile at me.We saw Hal outside the ground on Saturday - weirdly felt like spotting a celebrity, even though he's basically just a football nerd - no offence Hal![]()
Come on be honest. When does that ever happen?I smiled at Benjamin Bloom when he sat in the Westfield Upper a few games ago (and he smiled back). The Mrs said "who was that" - normally only get that when some women smile at me.
Every time I close my eyes.Come on be honest. When does that ever happen?

Maybe the mrs did. That explains it. Cheers! She only asked because she thought he was a woman.

Dem Blades would be an interesting option to fill that gap.
This would be a huge undertaking for someone… but a brilliant idea
It's certainly not something 'DEM Blades' could do unilaterally. But very much open to getting involved... Obviously, it's a logistical nightmare, but one worth having.
A one-page, fold-up type thing could work....
Would require a 'team'.
Go all in Terry Curran and Barry BananaOooo, you dirty bastard!, I'll take your Megson and raise you, Chris Waddle.
Sorry mate, I didn't really mean to "fly this". Just an off the cuff remark. It's certainly not something 'DEM Blades' could do unilaterally. But very much open to getting involved... Obviously, it's a logistical nightmare, but one worth having.

They make alot more than £1 per programme and usually sell around 8,000I don't think United will abandon just yet. Not sure what the print runs are on it and how many sellers they have selling. Making around a £1 a copy (including all the advertising etc), selling 4000 or so a game will net them around £100K a year to pay the editor salary and that of the sellers. Should imagine at that they are making a small profit and worth its while continuing.
Would be a mammouth task I agree to put out a 100 page programme for each game but as you say a Team could do it or certainly something substantial. Its how you sell it that the issue.
Think that answers it then! Cost of print has gone up massively recently though but not sure of arrangement with Ignition. They make alot more than £1 per programme and usually sell around 8,000
Even if the cost price has doubled, they still make a lot more than £1 per programme. Cost is less than £1.Think that answers it then! Cost of print has gone up massively recently though but not sure of arrangement with Ignition.

8,000 is a lot. To say we get like 24k on average that’s 1 in 3 people buying a programme. That’s more than I’d have guessed. They make alot more than £1 per programme and usually sell around 8,000
