On the face of it, looking at the three games which will affect Blades, Luton sixth place, should beat Reading, twenty first place, Middlesbrough should beat Preston, away, nine points better off and Fulham should beat Blades, eighteen points more than Blades.
Having said that, association football can throw up some remarkable results, not withstanding the skulduggery which obviously takes place, it should be an exciting ride Satdi afternoon.
Keep the faith, roar loud and long, victory should give momentum for the squad to achieve promotion through the play offs'.

In my life there have been numerous last day situations where we needed results to go for us in order to avoid relegation and a few that we needed for promotion- none that I remember went for us so I am pessimistic that the other teams will do us a favour and I watched Fulham yesterday which was a bit scary !

Surprised no one's voted for 8th yet, Millwall would only need to win and make up five goals on us while we lose, Luton win and Boro win.

Always had the feeling we would be playing Huddersfield in the play offs.
Luton at Wembley.
Is it still possible? If it is, both very beatable.

Has to be fifth so I can make the home leg of a semi which will be on a Saturday afternoon. Not a crappy Friday night slot.

Burnley 0 Hull 2 being the exception to the rule?...

Where Are They Now? Sheffield United’s Division 3 promotion winners 1983/1984

KEITH EDWARDS admits that he was banned by his wife from helping the Blades win promotion by the smallest of margins, one goal.

The prolific Edwards won the Golden Boot after firing The Blades to a second promotion in three years with 42 goals two years after leaving cash strapped Hull.

But it could have been so different had The Tigers beaten Burnley by three clear goals in their last game of the season which would have seen them go up instead.

Edwards who blasted four goals on the opening day of the season against Gillingham was left at home listening to the game on the radio
“It couldn’t have got any closer, with Hull being my former club made piping them to the post somewhat special for me
“We recognised that we got as low as we could and there was only one way to go, whereas Hull were still trying to get over their financial difficulties which is why we made progress quicker.

“My time at Hull was difficult because they were broke, I was just like a piece of meat, and I had to be sold to finance some of their difficulties.
“I went back to Hull in 1988 and had some fantastic times there but the Blades were my team and got promoted by one goal and how often has that happened?

“I remember a few of lads went with Colin Morris to the Hull game because he had a connection with Burnley, then there were half a dozen that went out.

“I sat in and listened to it on the radio but couldn’t stand it too much, when we realised that we were going up I wanted to go out and meet the lads but our lass wouldn’t let me.

“So I missed out on it, I should have been out with the lads but we made up for it. It was a great set of guys at the club then.

“Alot of them were from the North East like me but we had a few Yorkshiremen but we all got on great,” he said.

Middlesbrough up on Goals For!

Don't think I can bear it! o_O

Whilst we head into the final game in the strongest position, we now have the hardest assignment of all the teams.

I don't hold much hope for Preston doing us a favour after how they rolled over against Blackburn recently. Luton are at home, and despite yesterday's mauling, I'd expect them to go for it against Reading. Not concerned about Millwall.

The only thing that gives me some slight confidence is the second half performance at QPR, and the fact that we did a good defensive job on Fulham at theirs, as good as any team will do against them this season. But they are scoring for fun right now and Mitrovic even though he's setting all the records, clearly isn't the only danger man.

I do think we will need something from this game because I can't see many favours coming our way.

This was the final 1998 table, seem to remember both us and Birmingham lost but we made the Play Offs. Nottingham Forest, managed by Dave Bassett, went up automatically with Middlesborough, while Charlton went up via the Play Offs. Steve Thompson was manager for us following Nigel Spackman's departure earlier in the season. After losing in the Play Offs we appointed Steve Bruce.

Interesting to see we stumbled into the Play Offs on 74 points, similar to this year (if we make it) And a former successful Blades manager, who had previously taken us from the third tier to the Premier League, got promoted to the PL (then the Premiership) with his new team. Blades had two managers during that season too.

I will be placing an accumulator on Saturday

Fulham
Boro
Coventry

I don't understand the odds I have seen Skybet have us at 1/5 to stay in the play offs and Betfair have Fulham at nearly 3/1 to beat us on Saturday which is mental odds

All these people saying Fulham will be on the beach well they were on the beach last night and they beat the 5th best team in the league 7-0

Fallowfield is very worried especially if we turn in a performance like reading with Ben Osborn at Right back and the tactical genius that is Paul Heckingbottom in charge

6th. I’ve only answered this as I’ve dropped a bollock and planned something for the 14th, so need us to finish 6th, so that I can go to the home leg.

Bookies have - to win play offs
Forest 13/8
Blades 11/4
Hudds 4/1
Luton 11/2
Midds 9/1
Millwall 150/1 (which seems very generous)
