Why haven't we sold all our best players yet? Are we just going to wait till the last minute and flog them all to free up some room on the wages?

That's the Blades way :)

Then we will get all the same excesses: "an offer we couldn't refuse", "we couldn't stand in the way of the player who wanted to leave", "it was a great opportunity for him" but the best of all "there was no out there who is better than we already have" which is basically saying we are either to tight to pay for anyone or than we have no money

Maybe just maybe we arent going to sell anyone that we actually need to keep

We can indeed dream. It'll be last minute again with conveniently no time to get in a replacement.

PROVE ME WRONG THIS TIME McCABE!!!

Assuming that we don't sell any key players, the targets that are rumoured are Fleck (loan) and Clarke (Loan)

Seeing as the current team has no loan players, do we need to add loan players to this team?

Clarke we know is a very good player and we also know that he slotted in when him and Phillips came across, so I don't see a big upheaval (Wilson seems to handle the players well in this respect)

Fleck is an unknown to us. Could it rock the boat, we've had our fingers burnt with loans a few times (last minute recalls, failing to fit in, being crap and building their fitness and going back just when they start hitting form)

Personally, I think we need players on permanent deals, but can we stretch that far...

Maybe the players are enjoying playing for the club, and are on a promise of improved contracts should be get promoted with more money coming in to the club.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out, that what a Championship club will be offering the players if they moved now, are the same as what they would get next season if we went up.

I think Lowton and Maguire's case they have recently signed new contracts, and i remember hearing Maguire on the radio a week or two back saying he was more than happy to stay, was learning loads by playing first team football week in, week out, and enjoying playing every week alongside Collins, who was helping to develop his game.

It's not what the pessimists want to hear, but i think it might be nearer the truth than universal claims that we will sell everyone at the last minute.

I wouldn't call myself a pessimist.... probably. But we've been here again and again so history would suggest it's realism!

Signing a new contract doesn't usually mean that someone is going to stay, just that we can command a fee for their transfer higher than if their contracts expired at the end of the season.

I really hope we can keep this squad together. Swiss, I think a couple of loans is a good idea just in case of injuries and if getting loans means we don't have to sell anyone then I'm all for it!
