In reality they are now ahead of us on goal difference.

If we lose 1-0 to QPR....then Blackburn can afford to win there next game by any score, even if they scrape a 1-0 win in their next game at home to Bournmouth
then us and Blackburn are all square but they go ahead of us by a ONE goal better GD.
This is quite literally the most stupid thing I have ever read. How can someone have a worse goal difference but "in reality" have a better one?

Middlesbrough haven't put 2 league wins together since December. Just saying..... forget the rest, and we should finish above Luton. Tonight's result was massive tbh. What happens next is another matter. We need to batter whoever comes to the Lane in POs.

Let's say Team B has three points and a GD of two, and Team A has 6 points and a GD of one.

Even though Team A has a beter GD it will be wiped out with a loss and a Team B win regardless of the scores.

I mean A has a GD of 2, tesm B has GD of one, going into games.

Does anyone think we can win the playoffs? I have extremely low expectations & don’t like we’re away second leg if we get there

Luton have got Hull goalkeeper Matt Ingram on an emergency loan and will play against Fulham today.

In an ideal world, Fulham go and spank Luton tonight to confirm themselves as champions. That will help in bringing Luton down below us with Goal Difference and put a bit more pressure on them.
Then hopefully Fulham travel to the Lane in Party mood and not be too focussed on the game. We get the win needed to avoid any squeaky bums.
At the end of the day the Play off position is ours to lose. A performance like the second half at QPR and we should be good for the win. We simply have to be ruthless and take our chances.

I am not sure that it is better to play Fulham when they know they are Champions. They might just play with complete freedom rather than with the tension of knowing they need to get a result.

And Mitrovic picks up a slight hamstring strain, just enough for him too miss Saturdays game but not enough for it to spoil his holiday.

They might make changes if they've already won the title, and give time to squad players. Why risk injuries in a dead rubber game?

Henri Lansbury for Luton got away with this scything down of Ryan Manning of Swansea

Let's hope they play him & he marks Mitrovic, assuming Mitrovic stays on his feet long enough

My birthday is May 7. It's not often that the Blades play their final game of the season on my birthday with something at stake. In fact the last memory I have of it was the massive kick in the bollocks that was Chelsea away in 1994. I was in Aarhus at the time and my then-girlfriend arranged a party for me with songs, cake and tiny Danish and British flags. The result came through while they were singing 'happy birthday to you'. Fucking nightmare. I ended up necking a bottle of schnapps and going out on the piss on my own. 28 years on, by happy coincidence I'm in Aarhus again (well, 20 miles outside), it's my birthday on Saturday and there's an almost-full bottle of schnapps in the kitchen.

That’s it then we’re doomed. 😏
