You've made an accurate point there Tarquin. A lot of people are under the misapprehension that they can say what they like on the internet when the truth is very different. Same as people spouting their views down the pub. Libel and defamation apply whatever forum it's in. Obviously in reality you're unlikely to be sued by anyone as, and I know many of you will be saddened by this, no one particularly listens to what you say, so I think you'll be ok.

Just to put it in context think about those rioters and the Donny airport bloke. Thought they could have a laugh. Not laughing now though. Not accusing anyone of doing what they did. Just pointing out that if you write it down then you're not immune from the law.

Back to the original point though. What a load of mischievous tosh.

I now have your libellious statements in writing twice. As you were criticising someone for defaming the character of someone else in this thread and then moments later you do the same thing yourself, then you are indeed a hypocrite.

Speaking of making fools of themselves: do you think you have showered yourself in glory? Stating another member cannot post an opinion (on a forum) because you don't agree with it, trying to act smart with fancy phrases and talk of philosophers (but actually showing quite the opposite ..... imo) and a big dose of hypocrisy. All the time tieing yourself up in knots and contradicting yourself.

As for the libel case. Come off it. Do you really think Stephen Quinn cares about this forum? He probably does not know it exists. I'd love to hear if you have any evidence of a case of a footballer, sportsman or even celebrity that has brought defamation character charges against a member of the public based on what they have said on the net. Geez, Blackwell could have a field day. In fact, Lee Hendrie might make some bucks if he goes back over some old posts on here. But, as Darren (someone who clearly knows a lot about the law than you) has stated, sueing someone for saying they are a 'cheat' has no legs (legally).

Actually calling someone an "arse" is just what's known in the trade as "vulgar abuse" and is not actionable. As a good rule of thumb, making a specific factual allegation against someone which is capable of proof or disproof is probably actionable; making statements which are essentially value judgments incapable of proof or disproof is probably not.

Thus, saying "Quinn is a rapist" is actionable; saying "Quinn doesn't try hard enough when he plays for United" (which is what I take "cheat" to mean in this context) is not.

I never said probable, I said possible. Do you think that guy sitting at Donny Airport (see the example by Rattly Noise) thought it likely that his Twitter comment would end him in court? I doubt it. And even then... does that make it ok?

The rest of your inane rambling doesn't require a reply.

Again, likely or not. That doesn't make a difference. I've stated that there is grounds for it, and I'm accused of trying to make this the North Korean branch of the Sheffield United Fans Association. I've not said once that anybody shouldn't post their opinion, or that I agree or disagree with any opinion. If the truth must be known, I couldn't find two shits to rub together for most of the "opinions" posted on here. If you struggle to understand why, then read back through this thread and see the abuse hurled at me for stating clear and obvious facts in an open fashion. It seems you're only going to be welcome here if you have some shit to spread or an axe to grind.

I think the North Korean accusation came from one person and that wasn't me.

I do understand what you are saying, but don't agree with it. My (unexpert) opinion is that any attempt at legal action against Sitwell based on his written opinions on this forum about Stephen Quinn would fail.

Personally, I don't actually agree with those opinions, but that's life!

Nicely summed up, I agree with that. If Quinny lost a bit of mardyness and worked on using his other foot, he would be signicantly better than he is now
 
How ironic that several people have an 'opinion' on something which they don't want to believe is fact but i know to be a fact. Quinns picture wasn't on the charge room wall at Bridge Street because the duty officer is a Blade. I do know all the facts and am not guessing but don't want to get involved with all this shit on here so thats me done ,disappointed in one or two who have commented I must admit. Anyway our Jude is out on bail. One thing I will also say is that I have not told the full story (not to do with Quinny) and won't do until it comes out.

Why wait to comment when the story comes out? We'll already know what it is then. What are you going to do, say "I already knew that.... honest"? We can all do that one. I know who our next signing will be but I'm not telling until the club announce it in case it doesn't happen.
 
He was arrested for disrespecting the Gary Ablett minutes applause and remains in prison c/o PC Sitwell
