I’d like to think not even when we inevitably shift a few on we have some good youth players coming through plus the likes of Bogle, Brewster etc who I think will be good for us not to mention we’ll bring a few in weather it’s loans or not. Probably do a bit of a Huddersfield which is fairly realistic.

We need to move on the high earners and bring in players from the championship and league one that want to take their career to the next level.

Jock Stein once said that you need to rebuild your team every 4 years or move on to another club we could be in a player deficit if this is anything to go by.

What 15 or so other clubs in the championship will do then

Wes, Bogle, RND, Egan, Bash, Fleck, Norwood, Brewster, Ndiaye and Sharp will form the basis of a squad more than good enough to finish mid table.

However without MGW, a box to box midfielder and good wide players we wont challenge for promotion especially with 3 more teams coming down with parachute payments.

Big difference these days of using youth players is, if they are any good in first half of season the corrupt money clubs like Chelsea always have done will snap them up come JTW and farm them out or bench them.
We'd have to be unbelievably worse next season to be in a relegation battle. This division is appalling.
Huddersfield finished 4th bottom last season, recon we could easily emulate them in reverse next season

I expect the poster was saying we're going straight through to league 1 after our relegation from the Premier and after 6/7 games he was saying I told you so until our upturn in form and predicted a top 2 finish until the weekend where he will now be saying we won't finish in the play offs followed by we'll be going down next season, sorry he's already said that, think I'll put the news on to chear me up😞

We wont be anywhere near a relegation battle... but the football will be absolutely dross.

No MGW, no party.

I shudder to think how dire our football would have been this season without him providing some entertainment. Gues we'll see first hand next season what its really like.

with the quality of the teams not going up (All but two of B’mouth/Forest/Boro/Huddersfield/WBA)

and the teams coming down (3 of Burnley/Everton/Norwich/Watford)

That makes up the top 6 next season

i also expect a few other teams which have underperformed or who have momentum to match or better us (Swansea, Luton, Stoke, Coventry, Wigan, Sunderland?)

All of this in mind, we will be solidly mid table at best, I’m calling 10th if we can keep Brewster etc

Will be a relegation battle and not in Prem! Higher earners moved on freebies, loans and kids will be best we can hope for
Definitely not a relegation fight, too much quality in the squad, build team around likes of Bogle, Brewster etc.
Get rid of some of good servants who have had their day and get rid of likes of McBurnie who have brought nothing to the table.
Problem will be if Egan departs

Based on what exactly?

Absolute dominance from start to finish last night, barring the mad 10mins after we conceded. We should have been 3 or 4 up at HT

I bet most people thought the same at the start of this season. It doesn't always pan out that way though.

WBA are shit for starters, we've outplayed Bournemouth over 2 games and managed to come away with 1 point for our troubles. Boro are like us and blow hot and cold. Huddersfield won't repeat this season again, the stats back this up. Forest have hit form late but they might not react well if they aren't promoted, it might suck the life out of them if they don't go up. Burnley might be in financial meltdown. Norwich can't keep yoyo-ing indefinitely. Everton will have a 1 season 'shit or bust' approach that will either see them walk the league or fail miserably.

Nothing is cut and dried.

It's silly to predict this now. We don't know who will be good and who will be shit next year. Us and Norwich were 10th and 14th the season before we got promoted. Last season, Huddersfield finished 20th and Forest finished 17th. Plus, you never know how the teams promoted from League One will do. Recall how our neighbours were convinced that they were miles ahead of us not so long ago.

We may still go up via play offs. Not likely but possible. And if so, who knows what we could unload/buy? But if not, then it's the likes of Mcburnie, Brewster, Berge and the returning Mousset and Burke that will fuck us over. All saddling us with huge wages whilst turning in shite performances with bodies made of straw. Mind you, if somehow Napoli come up with that fabled 50m fee for Berge, Salernitano inexlicably find they can't do without Fatso, Millwall lose their marbles and want our male model, we may be able use that cash elsewhere. Nah, still leaves Mcburnie and Brewster.....
BTW, think we bought the wrong Brewster. this one looks the business -

I remember a time not so long ago when we built a team of misfits, kids and freebies...it got promoted from League 1 and a couple of years later, graced the Premier League and bloodied a few noses. I'm not saying that's going to happen next year, but there's no guarantee we'll be scrapping at the foot of the league just because we've offloaded a few (massively under-performing) high earners.

Might be the best that ‘you‘ can hope for, thankfully not everyone takes solace in worst scenario predictions.

..and Wednesday will win the FA cup and be promoted to the Premiership.
Perhaps none of these ?

We need to move on the high earners and bring in players from the championship and league one that want to take their career to the next level.
....a bit like we did 5 years ago !!
