United 1 Reading 2 - brief moan/report

Looking at McBurnie career statistics, he barely scrapes 22 appearances per season since 2013. Now he's hobbling again. He's very rare in that he's a 'footballer' who is unable to strike a ball cleanly, and he is definitely unable to do that with any power. He cannot stand up for ten minutes without crashing to the floor looking for fouls. Injured again for a few weeks. Any manager worth anything would sort out that socks down thing. You tell him pull the fucking socks up and don't look even more of a cunt than you already do.

Business end of the season, to do that, is just unforgivable. For a fourth bottom and pretty much safe side to want it more than us at the Lane in the midst of a play off push is just beyond the pale.
Heckiingbottom.. What a fucking name... Is responsible for this shit.

An entirely fair write up DB. Comes to something when your outs of ten are lower than mine.

I too am not entirely fucked if we don't make the playoffs. It's the way the club has conditioned me and by fuck even if we did scrape it through on extra time, away goals and penalties, the spectre of the club trotting out next season in the PL with this string of anal beads chills my claret somewhat. I am watching Liverpool pull the legs off Citeh at the moment and the thought of even a Liverpool B side stuck out against us makes my fucking shit turn to Caramac.

pommpey
Liverpool teens/under 20 or whatever, would be too much for this lot. Like when Arsenal juniors thumped Backwell's side 6 0 in the League cup.

For many years I bemoaned the fact that every transfer was seemingly done without any regard for proper squad building or who we already had. So you ended up, twice in 5 years, with a midfield who did not contribute anywhere near enough in terms of goals and assists, in 2011 and 2014-16. Or thousands of full backs and no decent centre halves under Clough.

After some very good years under Wilder in terms of squad building, it has started to happen again. Once again, aside from Berge’s recent burst, we have a midfield that doesn’t score or create enough. That’s 3 times in 11 years.

If Hourihane is signed permanently, that’s a sign of struggle next season.
And the plethora of five foot nothing figurines Clough thought were adequate too. 😂

I feel Hourihane deserves an extra point for being able to take set pieces.

This team don't have it in them to reach the play off's as the majority of the squad are in decline after reaching their high water mark pre Covid, maybe Chris Wilder saw what was coming so couldn't wait to creep out of the back door. We still have essentially the same squad that fell apart in our 2nd Prem season, Slav couldn't get a tune out of them at a lower level and we went back to the Wilder tactics and formation under Hecky. We are still playing Wilderball just with a different manager, after a good run it is being found out again by ordinary workman like teams in the Championship. Awful to see teams with very little to play for want it more than us when we have the chance of a play off spot, Ive said this before and I'll say it again most of this team know if we won promotion they would be out of a job and that's why the desire is not there.

…..teams very little to play for…. I thought the Reading game would be the hardest of the last 5 games - they are / were fighting to avoid relegation - Brizzle, QPR and Cardiff are mid-table and going nowhere and Fulham will be on the beach… and it might still prove to be the case…

That write up is spot on. Myself and Roy were saying very similar after the match saying we would be better off with no striker just to get more creativity on the pitch with Ndiaye, MGW and Berge. Most of these players are shot to pieces though, needs a big clear out.
