Something iv been wondering for a while would Mcburnie be better suited to play in midfield. His hold up play and eye for a pass even if it looks like a fluke mid slip is quite good. His attributes defensively are decent and we all know he's struggled to produce any end product (not a dig) if he was delivering the service to the front rather than being the man at the front how would you see him doing?

If we were looking to make the least athletic midfield in the division less athletic, this would be a way

i also been think he would be a good central midfielder or Centre back. because last 15 mins he fantastic to save a game. great in the box & heading clear. thats the problem mcburnie has we bought him to score goals not to stop them

I think the thing that has messed McBurnie up is giving him simple, additional tasks..

Prior to coming to us, I think he played by some very simple rules. Stay onside and get one the end of whatever you can.....

He's finally getting the grasp of the work rate and he is doing it very well....actually to be honest, I will give him more credit than thay, because he is finally getting it.... his overall workrate is finally looking the part.

I do however think that we have changed the whole dimensions of McB's game.....we took a player on his admirable qualities and we expected a hell of a lot more. A more mature, rounded player......someone who does more than poaches.

He gives the ball away more than any forward, midfielder or defender in the whole league, so maybe not. 50% of his passes went to Bournemouth players on Saturday.

There is previous evidence to support this theory, but Chris Basham is/was a completely different and more adept player.
McBs all round game and commitment have improved at the expense of his goal scoring.
Basham is more likely to score or assist than the wayward lad.

I think he could play as a number 10 rather than an out and out midfielder.
His key attribute for Swansea was picking the ball up deep and running at defenders, we then asked him to lead the line and play with his back to goal upon signing for us.

Part of the issue with our 3 most expensive signings is that we asked all 3 to perform a different type of role than they had previously done - quite a gamble when you think about it and one that backfired bigtime.

I would have to go and look again, but I seem to recall that many of his goals at Swansea were in a front three, with him in the middle?, three players running forward, with one of the lads (on the left or right) crossing it into the box for McB, or playing the ball just in front of him as he arrived into the box. I am sure he scored against us a few times like that.

Could be my memory playing tricks, of course!

I think he'd probably most suit a team that has two wingers pushed high alongside him. His poaching/instincts have been damaged by confidence i believe.

But he's a centre forward. Check the Swansea highlight reels for confirmation.

He's played well last couple of games, vastly better than youngster(s) was doing.

He reminds me of Harry Kane in his style of midfield build up play but Kane has Son alongside him to finish things off and of course HK is a much better finisher than McB will ever be!

People just completely blank this and just see the little 5 yard passes he does make. One that stuck in my mind was just prior to him setting up MGW, he put them on the attack and nearly through on goal at the other end, ball came to him that wasn’t an easy grass cutter that he can collect, was around knee height or something, no one challenging him and he passed it first time straight to their player which nearly got them through on goal. He does this time and time again but it is completely blanked

I'm always up for a reasoned argument and wouldn't wish to put down anyone's opinion but genuinely, I've never, ever, ever seen a player less suited to playing in midfield and I include Michael Verrips.
