Well that was a shower of shite and yet another away game I got up for at an ungodly hour. The only silver lining was daylight saving extra hour in bed. Now the midweek games kick off at 4.45am but I just can't even be bothered to watch if we're going to play as ineptly as we did today.

Agree with a few that thought the RND rating was harsh, he was one of our better players out of the shower of shite served up. Missed Billy's leadership today - someone to remind them on the pitch who they're playing for and what it means. Someone to yell at Norwood or Robinson for sloppy givaways. Play-offs still on but if we play like that we'll be fucking mauled.

Fleck and Berge go from the passive to the downright cowardly at times.

With all that talent they have I’m at a loss as to why they don’t ever seem to get mad and just think ‘fuck this just gimme the ball I’m gonna do something’.

To nick a quote from Glengarry Glen Ross ‘GET MAD you sons a bitches get mad!

There is a real absence of a ball carrier in the middle of the park.

It used to be Fleck but there needs to be more of that.

Hourihane is a left footed Norwood in terms of team dynamic.

Unless Coulibaly can get back his form from the last season I think we are lacking this player who can break between the lines.

To doff my cap to pommpey there were a lot of elements of classic 20/21 Wilderball.

Not pretending he is the solution long term but now Baldock is back maybe Osborn can play alongside Norwood to at least get some energy in there?

Also having Davies at right centre back feels all wrong now. He's so left footed. You really have to play Uremovic there. Only Sheffield United would pull off a 'clever' move then chose not to use it. He's played as much as Davies in recent times. Had he been there it may be the goal would have been better protected.

Yeah, plenty. The fact that everyone has a point of view and it might not necessarily agree with yours. And maybe if you disagree, why not do it so you retain some dignity and kudos? Clearly not been to the match? Well, no. A bit of a long shot really but to satisfy your anger I did shell out a tenner to watch it on SUTV. That okay? Also, I don't usually do 'My takes ... ' on games I didn't watch. A bit daft really, y'think?

So yeah, I did call it as I saw it. And that means I though Baldock was better than RND, who I though wasteful and outpaced by his wingback marker. And as you say, his final ball - for a wingback - is shite. He didn't exactly find much attacking purchase even in that second half and save for a disputed penalty appeal, failed to make an impact.

And no, for all his 'breath of fresh air', Osula didn't exactly set a poor Stoke backline on fire.

pommpey
Baldock was one of the worst players on the pitch. On the few occasions he got forward, apart from one he cut inside and then dived for a pen, he was offside. Defensively, he was all over the shop. Partly to blame for their goal and out of position constantly. Their left-sided player had time and space to put several balls in. In his defence, he had no help from Sander Joggingaroundthehalfwayline Berge

RND was ok. Got forward more. Put the best cross in and defended ok.

And I think Baldock is the better footballer, so no agenda here.

Possibly not, but one thing that's 100% certain is they would give it a good go and definitely play with more desire than we did today.
It effects the teams cohesion being forced into so many changes and if your playing opposition thats in a rythym and playing their best players your not going to be as effective . We dont have that much depth of squad to play a second XI that can fill in equivalents in every position and it's that that is hurting us.
Stats say we still could have won it but the own goal that won it tells you your not getting the breaks or bounce and it's those margins between teams in this division
it's so tight a draw and we'd be 5th
6 left got to make 4 home games count

I'd have preferred to see Gordon playing rather than Davies who I have never rated since the day he arrived, the guy can be a decent footballer but then he has these ball watching soft as runny shit moments ...................... Preston was certainly his level. You have to ask why Brunt and Lopata were recalled from Southend but haven't been used.

You do know we were playing Stoke who are in terrible form and that they had two of their best players out through injury. It was far from a full strength Stoke City we were up against.

Are you dropping Egan or Robinson for Lopata?

Whereas, if you’d been there, your eyes would say that the stats are a red herring. That we never looked anywhere close to winning it. That this was largely due to us playing turgid, timid and error-ridden football. And that if Stoke had been marginally better at shooting or crossing, we could have lost by a hatful—put differently, we were gifted plenty of ‘breaks and ‘bounces’ and were still second best by a stretch.

Sometimes, your relentless optimism is a welcome relief from the blind negativity of others. Sometimes it’s just blind.

So far off it again yesterday .. another MIllwall , Cov , Derby performance with no creativity , tippy tappy super safe going nowhere passing at snail pace , it looked like 2 sides packing their flip flops & beach gear ready for their hols .
Worryingly the goals are now drying up with the injuries & the kids we’ve tried blooding in are nowhere near ready sadly .
I fear if we get 2 wrong results this week against QPR & Bournemouth that could be our race run , we look like a side limping towards the finish line at the moment .

We go again on Tuesday, loads of home games left, still in with a great chance of the play offs if we can get going in the home games
Injuries really have screwed us, half a team out long term is pretty dire

Agree with most of that Pommpey. Slightly harsh on RND. But only slightly.
I agree his end product is generally shite.
We MAY just scrape into playoffs. If we are lucky.
But then we all know what will happen if we do, no question.
This squad is just not good enough. Certainly not for the Prem. I dred the thought of these players in the Prem.
As Pommpey rightly says 60% (if not more ) need to go. This lot are either aging, inexperienced, not ours, or not nearly of the required standard.

The idea of promotion is a great idea. And yes we should go for it. But be careful what you wish for.

Promotion is our only realistic hope of staying relevant in the coming years, and even then it would take accepting not being competitive next season in order to restructure the squad for the season after.

It might also help with new investment or a change of owner.

As we are, it's hard to imagine being a top 6 contender next season but you never know.

A superb report, bang on the money. Norrington Davis tries hard but is terrible going forward.

Great film

Stoke were rubbish, but did the usual stuff, tried to close us down quickly, packed the box out, etc., Jags never even broke sweat (and a nice touch from him, applauding our fans the entire time he was walking off the pitch, at the final whistle).

We moan about the Prince, but the ultimate owner of Stoke City FC is the richest business woman in the UK, 12 Billion personal wealth, from memory. Imagine having a multi billionaire owner and having to watch that shower of mediocre shit every week.

And that Franklyn stand, come on, you can't be a billionaire owner, and not think, "that looks crap, compared to the rest of the ground, we need to knock that down in Summer and build something a little bit better looking and more modern". It's not as bad the sty, but it does look terrible.

It`s the way we are losing thats unfathomable. We were as flat as a fart and have been for a while other than Middlesboro
