The player management of Jebbison

So; we’re totally disregarding Jebbison in this? 😂
Not at all. He was on the bench last night with Lopata, Gomis and Arblaster who had also been recalled from loans - as had Seriki who didn't make the bench.
You starting this thread perhaps shows how you are disregarding the progress Osula has made.

It's a weird argument to be having. Does the OP think it's some sort of Hecky conspiracy then? Clearly the manager wants to get the best results he can for the club and his own career. If he's not using a player it's because in his professional opinion he's not good enough. Nothing we have seen from Jebbison in a Utd shirt contradicts that.

18 year old gets recalled from league one loan, and gets sub appearances in place of the world's best striker.
Pretty good if you ask me.

Jebbo's problem isn't Hecky, it's Billy. His grit, goals and graft make him first choice everytime but I agree the young lad should be in front of McBurnie in the pecking order.

Its the exact same as what Slav did to Brewster at the start of the season

Just constantly playing sharp is not good for the long term future of the club he is 36 isn't as good as most people suggest and stops the pathway for the future players to come through

Not only is it not good for the long term squad it doesn't make sense to run sharp into the ground and play him every minute when we need players fresh

One of the better players in L1, in form. His athleticism is exactly what we need at the end of games. It would let Billy put it all out there for 70 instead of having to pace himself. It's absolutely horrific use of resources

So should we play sharp until he is 39 and then have no younger players because they have all left for game time ?

Take the positive from it, another young lad made his debut last night so we now have 2 lads who hopefully go in front of McBurnie on the bench.

He was considered good enough to be playing for us in the Prem and even scored a goal and looked a handful in the games he played. Suddenly he’s deemed not good enough by the same manager.

Hecky is taking the piss out of him by calling him back and not playing him.
PH has an obligation to do what is best for SUFC and necessarily for Jebbison. He was brought back as cover like Lopats. If they are used then fine, but if not then we have managed without them.

I trust a manager that has worked with him for a decent chunk of time over posters hoping a kid can fill in.
He's played one 25 minute cameo of note and in that time he stretched the game, closed down very well, won headers, had a shot on target and caused a nuisance.

Why can't you trust your own eyes? Nobody thinks He's a definite match winner (although he was for Burton just 2 months ago. And we have personal experience of players taking to the Championship after excelling in L1). But we desperately need the kind of attributes he has at the end of games

“He’S nOt ReAdY”

“Right ok, why recall him then?”

“We HaD nO oNe ElSe”

🙃🔫

Plenty of choices you can make instead of recalling a player that’s not ready, and stalling his development. The transfer window was still open we could’ve got a loan in. Not one that costs the earth, could’ve been a cheap one. We chose to recall a young lad who apparently is not ready yet.

I suspect it's often been how the games have panned out as well.
I expected Jebbison to feature more too. Guess McBurnie (Let's not open up the debate) if fit is ahead due to more experience and his past record if he gets up to speed.

In his little cameo vs Forest he fluffed a simple pass which would have made it 2-0 too. But that's not to knock him, more to say he didn't make the most of the opportunity.

Last night do you take off Sharp when there's a chance to win the match?

This international break can't come soon enough. Assuming our players don't pick up injuries during it as it feels like new one's every week!

Have a resurgent Barnsley first, we could really do with a win to get back on track.

A 25 minute cameo v a manager who knows him better than someone who saw him run around a bit as a substitute.

Last night is probably one that the Sharp critics will love as he didn't really do much at all.
Nothing came off, same for MGW, changing one of them wouldn’t have hurt at all. They weren’t gonna score in a month of Sundays, they looked understandably fucked after 70.

We all know there is a reason why you have Billy Sharp on the pitch

Its not about not playing Billy. Its about making changes in the second half to freshen things up.
Billy has been great for Hecky, but in my view we should have made substitutions earlier and used the full quota of subs.

Didn’t Osula come on for about three minutes? Are we getting het up about a substitute appearance that would not have given Jebbison any chance at all?
I think we have to remember they’re just kids really and yes him and indeed Lopata have done well at a lower level but we can’t expect them to be world beaters in the championship. Heckinbottom knows these kids. He’s clearly not afraid of blooding them if he has to or thinks they’re ready so I’d be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt

Paul Heckingbottom and Jack Lester know Daniel Jebbison a damn sight more than us lot do on a fans forum.

I suppose he did score an open net at Everton though

Premier League was a free hit. We were already down with nothing to lose.

Hecky clearly thought seasoned pro, Sharp and flairboy Gibbs-White offered more chance of a goal last night.

Worth remembering who played him in the PL too.

I don’t give a toss if they know more than us 😂 it’s bordering on negligent how we’ve treated him. If he’s not ready you don’t recall him, you loan someone in.

Nobody is expecting them to be world beaters that’s the thing. And that 3 minutes would take his total minutes up to 34 in 13 games… every little helps.
