Hecky's use of subs + squad players

No I’m blind to it all. Pitch is an issue and causing injuries.? So you agree with his lack of subs?
I'd have brought a kid on only if it was necessary. The only full team swap he could do was Hoirihane, and that helped Sander push up. So a good swap. Beyond that he's in a rock and a hard place.
But my comment was about you saying he was complaining. He hasn't been making excuses, it is a fact.

With hindsight we should a thrown a few COVID sickies ourselves.

Like I said earlier on here, we played with a straight bat and didn't try to get games called off. All it appears to have done is fucked us and given us a relentless fixture list.

If we’d thrown a few ‘Covid sickies’ those games would have been rearranged for the next few weeks, making our fixture list even more relentless. What a great idea.

I’d have certainly brought Jebbison on for Sharp for the last 15. The worst that would’ve happened is we would’ve drawn 0-0

“We had no choice but to bring him back. Even if it was just to make up numbers on the bench. Hecky sees him everyday in training and clearly doesn’t rate him as highly as our fans that have seen him for about 10 min”

Make your mind up

He wants the glory that spending £100m brought us. Nothing else will do.
If it doesn't, just spend the same again. We demand it. 😫
So wide of the mark.
What have I actually said that is wrong ?
Cheap option ✅
Poor Manager ✅
Nothing in his managerial CV said he deserved to get a job of this size.

To be fair to him I don’t think he has made any excuses. He has said that he is having to be careful with players because of injuries. So running players into the ground is a great tactic ? The front 2 created nothing in the second half and also offered nothing because they are clearly knackered. My point is playing a lad who has played half a season in league 1 and can cope physically can do no harm. Your other point on crystal ball is quite right. Nobody knows. He is clearly more interested in not losing when in my opinion we should be more front foot. He was not helped tonight by inept officials but in my opinion his use of subs and in particular Jebbo is poor. If he isn’t doing enough in training then send him back. MCB must be dynamite in training obviously. All about opinions.

I agree jebbo on sooner to give him a go and rest Billy isn't so bad.
'problem' is, Billy so often turns games, he only needs one chance, so the temptation is to leave him on to do it.

Poor managers don’t take a team that is floundering on a ten game run of matches and achieve better results than any others in their league . Nor do they get individual players to produce better performances than their predecessors managed to do .

As for CV’s , Slav had quite a good one and was recruited as a very expensive option rather than a cheap one by Championship standards , and we all know how well that worked out .

The fucks that got to do with owt. What I’ve had done and what Hecky does who’s in a far better position to judge are totally different things.

Bring in one of the big guns then, to spend us to the top. Genius.

Again I have never said bring in "one of the big guns".
I am fully aware we are skint and couldn't afford one of the " big guns" who ever they are.
All I am saying is there is nothing on Heckingbottoms CV that should have got him a job has big as this on such a long contract.
He was the cheap option and is a poor manager.
If he doesn't get us promoted this season which is starting to look less likely by each week, he will take us back to the First Division in my opinion.
I am just worried for the future skint Poor Manager an owner who's scarpered and left some PR genius in charge.

We all know this side was under achieving and nothing is ever won in February or March.
Slav needed money to spend too change the side around to get them to play his way. He should have never been hired if all we intended giving him was £15.75 bad management by the Prince.

For once, I think the manager and players are fairly blameless for our dip in form.
He has no options off the bench and the players look absolutely burned out.
This run of fixtures was always going to be a killer, but just about manageable with a rotating squad. Unfortunately we can't rotate as we have no players. I've never seen anything like this before.

Ok, so you know we've spent all the money we had on players that turned out poor and we got dumped out of the prem.
Follow the logic through about what you do next.
Here we are pushing a playoff place to go back up.
Suggest what you do want.

All I am saying is in my opinion Heckingbottom was a bad appointment. He shouldn't be near any job of this size, let alone be given a 4 year contract.
Now he might get us up, this squad is more than good enough too at the very least get in the play offs, personally i think we will fall short. I don't have any faith in him being able to build a promotion challenging side next season and can see us really struggling.

By any reasonable assessment , the job Hecky and his team have done so far has been excellent bordering on exceptional , not only in terms of results but also the manner in which those results have been achieved .

This is especially the case when taking into account the serious depletion of the squad during his tenure as opposed to the options available to his (very expensive) predecessor who , by your own admission had a squad good enough to at least get in the play offs .

When the decision was taken to replace him , we were languishing in the bottom half of the league and playing some of the most mind numbingly boring football it has ever been my misfortune to witness at the Lane and yet you suggest in an earlier post that a better solution would have been to give him a chunk of money to spend on players who could play “his way “.

On reflection , do still stand by that and if so why ?

As for “ He shouldn’t be near any job of this size “ , - is your best mate a Grunter and have you been taking sneaky shots of his Deludamol ? If not , please provide a list of those worthies who in your opinion are fit and proper to achieve the ultimate accolade of being Manager of Sheffield United and who would guarantee results and performances far better than those of the present incumbent .

"Exceptional" do you have any grunter mates ? Derby, Millwall, Preston, Hull, Coventry, Blackpool, I think you have been taking deludamol unless you are Paul
Slav plays a certain way which requires players that are comfortable playing that way, unfortunately the players we have were not. He should never have been hired if we wasn't going to back him and allow him to bring players in.
There is nothing in Heckingbottoms managerial record that says he should have got a job as big as this, by that I mean he isn't a Championship manager or even 1st Division in my view.
Unfortunately i have a nasty feeling we will miss out on the play offs and then the slide down the league or even leagues will begin.

If he wanted to bring on specifically a striker in this situation, who else do you suggest he should have brought on?

Mcatee
Khadra

Drop one of them back, go 1 upfront (Brewster) and see the game out?

I ask you if he wanted to bring on a striker, with the clear implication we are staying with 2 up top, you suggest two players, neither of which are strikers, with the idea of going to one man up top?
