So, If United do get promoted this season, please let me know how many of the current squad you believe have the ability to perform at this level.

Norwich pissed this league last year……look at em now.
Fulham killing it this year …….relegation candidates next year.
If the players we have get promoted they have earned the right to play premiership football but the odds will always be stacked against them, that’s just the way it is.

Bogle, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Berge... Brewster was starting to look a real player before his injury. A load of others would be "do a job" types.
We'd struggle without a lot of investment. Same as most promoted sides.

Who cares...just

Better to be shit and fill our pockets than lose the parachute money and watch our club get asset-stripped as we fall through the leagues.

To answer your question though, Bogle, Berge, Egan, potentially Brewster, but they'd need to be surrounded with Premier League experience or at least a bit more quality than we currently have.

Probably non, except MGW who isn’t ours anyway

However, as we have seen, momentum and the right system can bring results - Norwich probably have a better squad than Brentford, but they have the baggage of knowing how relegation feels, whereas Brentford play without fear

Should we go up, we can’t buy (or wage) a new team, so we would have to hope Brewster, Berge, Ndaiye, Bogle and Egan can find a bit of prem form and bring in the rest

Maybe try to give Pukki a new challenge?
I reckon a couple of Newcastle lads will become available?
If Burnley go look at McNeill & Hennessey?
After that it’s foreign (Weghorst cost £12.5m but already looks far better than McB & Brewster in their prem season) and loans

Good question, if we go up I reckon we need 9 or 10 new starters. Only Bogle/Baldock and Berge possible starters.
If we stay in the Championship we need 5/6 new starters.

Hardly any unfortunately, Berge and Egan (if he has the right partners at the back). We also won't have the same momentum we had last time.

If we are promoted (I don't think we will personally), we'll have to play it smart and rebuild for the future with the extra safety net of Prem revenue. I imagine we'll attempt to go for Henderson again and he'll be the big marquee summer signing/loan.

I hate to say this but every time I see Bannan on a highlights show he looks good - good passer of the ball and he has a v good shot on him.😟
But then you remind yourself he's doing it in a Pub League...and the last time he played in the Mester's League he finished bottom.

For all the piss taking of them, I'd happily do a Norwich first season.

Have a Training facility making it one of the best in the north and get the Academy up to A standard so the players can stretch themselves. As Ball_Sup (Phil) alludes to, we are playing in the third tier at these levels. If we want to have a feel how ready these guys are, it isn't going to hurt to up the levels a bit. Look at Derby who do play at that higher level. They've had to throw many kids in and to be fair, they've done alright.

It’s very easy to get sucked into the “Premiership Quality” hole. Many sides before have done it and Ourselves, Leeds and Brentford (currently) have shown that it’s possible to hold your own in the Premier league without blowing tonnes of money on so called quality. At least for a season. The problem comes when bringing in the next breed - budgets and sensible approach says go for lots of younger players, bring the squad age down and hopefully they’ll step up… rather than go for experience as experience costs more

Biggest issue any side going up will have is depth. Both in like for like replacements but also different players to change the way you play, the Plan B.

Of course established sides have both but they also have players that can change a game in an instant with a moment of brilliance. Those players cost more!

We’ve built ourselves over the past few years with graft, athletic players at their prime.

What’s happening to our squad now is that we have several players who’ve played with so much intensity over several years, couple of stop start seasons (covid, spells out of the side etc) and we’ve ended up with some injuries. We’ll have to move a few on in the summer regardless.

There are several players who are reaching or have reached their limits (in age or ability) so we’re in a rebuild phase with younger players brought in or coming through. We’re transitional at the moment.

Watching us defend for 90 minutes in the hope we nick a point doesn’t appeal to me at all. If we were financially stable I’d be happy to remain in this league, under the current ownership we can’t compete in the league above

Take the money, keep our prospects, invest in a new crop of cheap lower league talent, go back down

rinse and repeat

It's been the Premier LEAGUE since 2007. Saying Premiership will get you branded as a pig

To answer your question though. Our current squad that are good enough to be starters/squad players...

Starters
Baldock
Fleck (on form)
Basham
Brewster
Berge
Egan
Bogle
B. Davies
Gibbs-White
Ndiaye

Squad Players
A. Davies
Stevens
O'Connell (depending how he comes back - could go either way)
McBurnie
Sharp
Lowe
Norwood
Foderingham
Robinson
Osborn
Goode
RND
Gordon
Jebbison

That gives us these players that i'd be comfortable starting:

N/A
Baldock/Bogle - Basham - Egan - Davies - N/A
Berge - Fleck
Ndiaye - Brewster - GibbsWhite
Which means we would need 6 or 7 good players

I reckon Goode and a fit JoC could play rugby but not sure at the highest level.
Burke at fullback. Jebbison could play flanker if he clapped on some timber. Sharps got a scrumhalf’s build but we’d be severely lacking for front row players a job for the scouting team in the summer ;)

Egan if he has solid players at the side of him. MGW and Ndiaye. Sharp would offer something. Brewster possibly. After that I’m struggling.

Oh and Foderingham would keep 38 clean sheets.

Mousset could play front-row with a full pre-season in the chippy

It hasn't been called the Premiership for 15 years.
