I think he's out of contract in mid 2023 so wolves will want to act on that this summer, before they loan out againTheres defo a chance of another loan, as wolves have atleast 3/4 players ahead of him in their current squad/team.
He signed a new contract up to end of 2024 before he was allowed to come out on loan to us originally.I think he's out of contract in mid 2023 so wolves will want to act on that this summer, before they loan out again
If he continues the way he is, then we would be stupid not to try and keep him here, whether we can realistically afford him or not.I think he's out of contract in mid 2023 so wolves will want to act on that this summer, before they loan out again
Hopefully we've learnt our lesson on signing multiple players on an even wage scale and next time we target fewer but higher quality prem ready players on slightly higher wages than those who got us promotedHe seems to genuinely enjoy playing for the club and I can imagine that IF we go up and Wolves don't see him as the future, that he would like to return if we could agree on a deal. Even if all of this hypothetically went in our favour though, the wages are surely going to be the end point here. As much as he seems to enjoy being here, I can't see him agreeing to 30-40k (?) a week with a relegation clause in a club that are likely to be in a relegation battle when he could go to a more established side for 60-70k+ (?). Unfortunately, but rightly so, in a career when every contract could be your final one emotions will be put to a side and he will do what's best financially for his future.
Eze went for £16m, Bowen went for £18m, Benrahma went for £25m.
Recently Nott'm Forest allegedly turned down £20m for Brennan Johnson.
To be honest, I'd put Gibbs-White right at the upper end of that group in terms of his value.
A very special, young, English talent with enormous potential.
As we like to make every thread about him i'm going to say it 'if McBurnies worth £20m MGW is worth £50m'
I agree, I’d be surprised if we got £5m for him at the moment unfortunately.I know it's not the point you're making, but McBurnie is barely worth £5m.
Who on earth would pay more than that for him? Unless FallowfieldBlade gets a decent managers role somewhere...

Any way quickly back to the value of MGW before it becomes another McBurnie debate![]()

The main thing I think we can take away from the Wilder years is that the PL doesn’t fit with factory rules re: pay. Quality costs so cough up and stay up or else. It’s a quaint idea to think everyone should fit into a narrow wage band but the reality is that PL performers cost a bomb and are paid accordingly. Just a non evidence based thought but just maybe we went shopping based on wages not purchase price to satisfy the zealotry of Wilder and his union rates. £20m for McB? Well, as long as he’s willing to take £20k per week we’re in. AN Other, proven prem striker for £5m but he wants £50k? - piss off! It's not the fee that is the problem
If we get promoted we have to compete with wages
Even if the squad is smaller but higher quality on better wages
The biggest clubs won't be interested but Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Palace are the type of clubs that would be.
If we are not going to compete with them, we might as well not bother going up
What? So worth as much as McBurnie? surely not!Eze went for £16m, Bowen went for £18m, Benrahma went for £25m.

Fair point- the best chance we have of getting £5m back has to be by shipping him out on loan asap. His value drops every time he stumbles out on the pitch for us at the momentI know it's not the point you're making, but McBurnie is barely worth £5m.

I reckon a major factor when it comes to the likes of Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth and Palace is....would he prefer to go there than stay at BDTDL.It's not the fee that is the problem

Wasn't too long ago we were playing Villa off the park. Now I read the other day that they are paying Coutinho £480.000 per week !!!!!Wages are the other massive issue of course for players of the quality of MGW, not just the transfer fee. We saw that last time. I do think our potential signings were limited by what the likes of villa were prepared to offer in wages, not just fees. Means we’re fishing in a different pond and hello McBurnie.
