For those of you in the locale, please pop along to Loughborough University Stadium tonight, Monday 7 March, 7pm. Where the U23s are playing Derby County in the knockout stage of the Premier League Cup. United finished second in the qualifying group. Above both Everton & Burnley, both Cat 1 Academies. But below Peterborough. Second in the group gives us an away tie. And another chance for the U23s to test themselves against Cat 1 opponents.

Admission is £3, concessions £1.

Should have said, will be decided on the night. We think by Extra Time & then Penalties.

Maybe we wouldn't expect Gordon, Seriki & Jebbison to be involved. If they are, that might be a pointer towards tomorrow night v Middlesbrough.

Hi Phil is the 23’s match streamed this evening ?
It's a AWAY match. You may be best checking Derby County's social media. If anyone is streaming it they will be.

In general, to all interested parties...
Twitter (remember it's just a website, nothing evil) is a great source of info on Academy football. You don't have to be on Twitter to use Twitter, you just have to be on the Internet. Which everyone who is reading this is.

Sheffield United Development Twitter is at
www.twitter.com/sufcdevelopment
Derby County Academy Twitter is at

My Twitter is at

The link confirms Derby will NOT be able to stream the game this evening

(for those at the back) I have posted above all the information as to how to find team details. Any problems, take it up with the Peaky Blinders...

What do we want?

In-focus pointless bits of paper and definitive opinions on the long-term prospects of obscure youth players.

When do we want it?

At whatever point seems reasonable. Thanks.

Did well to push a strong Derby side close. I know there's a lot of circumstances at play but Derby's starting 11 had 38 Championship appearances between them this season and their first was scored by Louie Sibley who's a first team regular. It's a shame we couldn't hold out though at 3-2 up with 10 to play.

Putting the lid on it, here's my Blog from the Cup defeat at Derby/Loughborough. My 229th ground watching a Sheffield United XI. It's all in there...

The Organ Grinder looks decent, and a 5.4% Porter at four quid!

Wonder if in the next 3 or 4 years (if they are still here), Jebbo and Osula will be our front two pairing?, both tall and pacey, maybe need a bit of added bulk (Osula less so, from what I have seen).

That was described as Ruby Red, he gave me a taster without asking. Looked black to me.

Osula is essentially all in the right proportions. Tall, strong, athletic. I feel Jebbison has to grow into bits of his body. Osula generally looks smoother, with everything ticking over nicely as he moves. Jebbison is still a bit clumsy & awkward at times.

But, as we've seen in the cameos at first team level - both got some way to go.

Osula is a more naturally gifted footballer who has had a few injury problems, seems over them now,a real prospect.
Jebbo is on a learning curve who has to grow into his body ,im sure he will.
Keep these two and when you consider the other prospects we have! The future could be really good.
The problem is money ! Can we fight off big bucks which will surely come from the big nobby.
Not been as excited about our young players for a long long time,if ever !
We have to keep em somehow.

How has Seriki looked since his return finlaytheblade he understandably looked a bit nervous last Friday and seemed a bit off pushing Baldock / Bogle for a starting place. Have you seen a noticeable difference in him since his return from Belgium in comparison to previous seasons?

At half time, on Tuesday night, when the subs were kicking a ball around, I noticed Gordon, Jebbo and Seriki stood together and Seriki looked like a bloke stood with two young lads. Osula looks the same when I watch the U23's play. I didn't realise that Osula has had some injury issues, until finlaytheblade mentioned it above.

I agree that we do seem to have a real buzz about our younger players again; Peck, Arblaster, Capello, etc.. as well the lads listed above.
