It's looking more and more likely that we're both going to reach the play-offs.
Would you rather play them over two legs or at Wembley?
Which would give us the better chance of winning?
Which victory would be sweeter?
Which defeat would be more devastating?

Be nice to finally see us win at wembley , against the pigs would be the icing on the cake and might even perk up our suicidal fan base
Defeat however could signal total meltdown of the Samaritans helpline

Just as long as win the play-off final.

I was 15, when we had the FA Cup Semi at Wembley, and it was the first game i can remember getting hammered at.

I went down on a minibus that was 75/25 in favour of the porkers, and we set off at seven in the morning and i thought i was risking it taking a packet of fags with me, but needless to say, before the minibus got on the M1 at Junction 35 there was the sound of cans being opened and cigs being sparked up, and i was handed the first can of Stones of many that i had that day.

No brainer for me.

Our record at both BDTBL and The Sty suggest we have every chance of beating them home and away.

Our record in big "one off" games at neutral venues is such that I wouldn't back us to beat Doncaster Belles at Wembley (or Old Trafford or Cardiff etc. etc.).

Having said that I will be mortified if the porkers even reach the play-offs.

Lets face it the final will be at wembley/old trafford/millenium stadium as it always is. Dont think I could take a final against that lot

I went down the day before with a coach full of big hitters , we stayed in soho and had a great night meeting loads of blades
I distinctly remember a large group talking to two German bayern Munich fans and it almost being their last day on earth after telling this bunch of drunken united fans that Wednesday were good and united were not very good
Remember getting up to leave the stadium at full time not realising there was extra time to be played ,Deane leaving bright a free header to score For the pigs
And the feeling afterwards was the worst I have ever felt
I went home to Sheffield that night without speaking to anyone and didn't even talk to my girlfriend for 2 days after , I suppose olly and mic will be on to poke fun AT me now I've admitted that

2 legs for me every time because i can see it now, pigs beat us, take more fans, bollocks bollocks bollocks, usual united lose out. Play them over 2 legs i would fancy us every time. Give them f%&k all tickets and we take 6000 to the sty.

What about neither? Guaranteed that if we get to Wembley, those fuck faced fuckers will be waiting for us. Then, we could see another 1979. Not so much a big defeat, but a loss that puts them in the championship, leaves us playing Yeovil and sends them on the way to a decade of dominance, while we spend the next three years trying to get back.

No doubt in my mind, United v Pigs at Wembley = complete and utter disaster for United.

"Fuck faced fuckers"

Outstanding work Axel.

Supplementary question - Who in their right minds would be travelling down to a Wembley showdown with hope in their hearts?*

Not me Raul. If we played them at Wembley, it would be 75/25 in favour of me not going, never mind with hope in my heart!!

I'd actually have a heart attack. With our record in play-off finals I couldn't bear it.

Me.

The widespread predisposed Sheffield United fan pessimism repulses me and I don't know where it comes from.

What's happened in the past has no bearing on the future so why not get behind the team and go in with a bit of confidence for once? What's the point in laying down and dying before a ball has even been kicked?

Board should start negotiations with the FL about a play off opt out.

If both us and pigs get into the play offs United should be allowed to submit before a ball is kicked.

This would be on the proviso that Wednesday give us our share of the proceeds of the game (s) as if they had been played.

We get the same cash but our fans don't have to witness the horrible, never to be forgotten and of course so inevitable defeat, our fans save anything from £100 to £200 if it's at Wembley and the pigs don't risk getting any players injured, loads of money saved in policing costs and no fighting....

Blades fans could even be encouraged to donate £50 of what they would have spent to a transfer kitty for next season (30,000 x £50 could buy the next Ched Evans).

After reflection, I think I'd rather play them in a two-legged semi (home and away).
It's never happened before and I think the build-up and atmosphere at both The Lane and Hillsborough would be an amazing experience.
If we won, straight out down town after to celebrate and start planning the trip to Wembley.
If we lost, it's a 5 mile journey home and avoid the TV, papers and pig fan mates for a fortnight.

i remember the last play off final walking through the burnley fans before kick off you would have thought they had already won
the blades (me included ) just treated it as a new ground visited and a chance to have a few beers with their mates ,not one single blade i spoke to beforhand thought we would win

you could bet your arse that if the pigs get to wembley this season ,wether it be v us or anyone else they will have booked the open top bus tour of sheffield and will be talking of getting back to being a top 6 club ,europe and getting crowds of 40k again before a ball has been kicked in anger

i love ebing a blade but i think they have a goal start on us just due to their inane enthusiasm

So Judgey pal - when I point out Wendy fans have a confidence about em this term you batter me as a pig, now you say they have enthusiasm (whether it be inane or not). What is the difference?

How on earth do you think that we could beat ANYBODY in the Playoff Final?

To achieve that, we'd need to do something we have NEVER done before ..... score a goal in the playoff final.

I'd rather beat them in the semi-final, and lose to somebody else in the Final.

The Intial poster should of added an extra vote option "United will finish outside the PO"

United will have to play the top 6 teams again meaning we will lose another 15 points plus whatever we lose against the bottom side. Wilson is not the man to get us there and as long as he is in charge, it will be mid-table for us

45 years a Blade and the original post is irrelevant for me.

The words 'play off' and 'final' mean only one thing if you are a Blade ........defeat!!!!

If on the slight chance we happen to make the play offs and get to the final no matter who we are playing I wont be going. Regardless of who we play.
I m not forking out £200/£300 to make my way down there and get ripped off in the stadium with vastly overpriced food and drink.
On the pich we ll either be crap and lose or be brilliant......... and still lose. And then there will be the journey back feeling downcast miserable and thougherly pissed off.

Not for me thanks. I ll watch at the pub. At least that way I can get pissed and soften the blow. Specially if its the Pigs!!!

Not according to most of the posters on here. The consensus is that we are awful and will be lucky to avoid relegation.

IMO we'll scrape in in 6th place. If so I am off on holiday and not coming back until the Play Offs are over.

I'd have to go for the play-off semi's. Losing a playoff final would be bad enough, but losing it to the pigs? Fuck that.

Well said the players here now should not have past players failures hung around their necks.

Its the fans that expect defeat.

what a bunch of downbeat soul destroying pessimists we breed at the Lane
Ive seen the police talking people off 18th floor ledges who are more positive than our fans

Why didn't we lose against them all first time around then?

Sheffield United 0-3 Huddersfield
Sheffield United 0-2 Charlton
Sheffield United 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield United 2-1 MK Dons
Notts County still to play
