I wonder how many of you have read Fit and Proper?: Conflicts and Conscience in an English Football Club [Paperback] by Matthew Bell and Gary Armstrong.

Its about governance at our beloved football club. Its not for the fainthearted as its all about the many and varied ways the club has managed to shoot itself in the foot over the years. I'm up to the bit where Mac Donald has taken over and Bassett resigned. There was a leaving dinner in which two players fought each other. I wonder which two they were. It also mentions a later formal do for Bassett hosted by the club and including supporters. Bassett apparently spliied the beans on some of his experiences. Does anyone recall this event ??

Anyway you can buy the book from Amazon or get some one to buy it for you for Christmas. PS:I'm not on commission.

Enjoyed it, but even when I read thought it might have been a couple of years early. I'll definately buy the sequel assuming there'll be one covering the events of the next couple of years.

Must admit keep on picking it up and putting it down although the Hinchcliffe chapter amuses me and specially when he moves on to Hull with Nick Buchanan who justifies the selling the luxury minibus to Hull City as being a good deal for the club.
