Sunjihi reckons he's out for the season. Contract up in June. (And he was right about Brewster)

Saying that, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Only just seen the thread. Bad news if true.

bad news if anything is gonna stop us getting in top 6 its the fact that weve lost 3 strikers recently mcburnie and jebbo are going to have to step up to the plate now

Heartbreaking. The best free transfer we've ever made.

His escapades in our promotion push will always be legendary to me. Where others showed signs of panic, he was the coolest guy on the field. It felt like he was man of the match in every game he played in that crucial run in. Deservedly won Player of the Season in a terrific team.

We've not been blessed with many players like Didsy since I've been going to games (2000) and it's been an honour to watch somebody with his unique abilities over the last few seasons.
He's worked hard, shown a good attitude and also some unbelievable skill in knitting everything together, making the system tick and silking it up at every opportunity.

Granted, his finishing wasn't always the best (though 15 goals in our promotion season and 7 in his second season in the Prem were very good returns), but had he had that in his locker he'd have never played for us.

If it is the end, GLTTL, you'll be missed. A top, top Blade and a legend of the Lane that will always be welcomed back.
We're a lot worse off for not having you available for this run-in.

Everyone has to - we`re dropping like flies

Luckily for us it's working with just one striker
Maybe that's why sydie has been involved with the first team last couple of weeks, we only now have MGW, berge and Ndiaye competing for the 2 off the striker role and anymore injuries and we are in deep especially with MGW and berge now getting back into full fitness with the risk of a break down

Not sure why people will consider this to be the end of his career with us - No harm in giving him another year is there?

Mid-30s, a bad history with injuries (before joining us), coming back off of long term surgery.
We've got a very limited budget - ask yourself whether you'd be happy signing him if we didn't have the history with him...
We haven't even offered terms to Basham or Sharp yet. He's got no chance, sadly.

I understand your point, but if we were to achieve promotion then we wouldn't have a "limited budget" and to sign him for another year would be worth the gamble IMO, remember he did well under difficult circumstances last season. If we didn't get promoted then another year on reduced terms would actually be a lot cheaper than trying to buy someone else who is already proven at this level.
Basham will automatically trigger a contract extension in a week or two, hence why no offer has been made.......and Billy? I've got no idea why nothing has happened on that front.

I’m sure Didzy will be offered another year. Plenty of life in the old dog yet.
Sharp’s contract has an extension clause for an extra year. Not sure about Bash but probably has something similar.
Bit early to be talking contracts too considering we’re in the middle of a frantic promotion battle.

Thanks for confirming Bash’s contract.
I read Billy’s is similar.
Wish somebody would trigger my extension.

Give him a contract to work with the 1st team, hecky Mcall Lester didzy backroom staff perfect 🥰 working class blade's 👏

I think the least we can do as a club is to make sure his surgery goes well
That his rehab is top notch and gets him back to full fitness
Then offer him a contract, with the possibility of a coaching position
But it has to be right for all involved
Us ( the club ) the player and his future
He deserves it for his service

This is starting to feel like one of those football manager saves where you're doing too well, so the game decides it's gonna fuck all your key players up for a few months

Beautifully put. 👌

Never forget that second goal against Brentford on the night we managed to win 2-0 with ten men for an hour, playing into the teeth of a hurricane second half and less than 20% possession, the night a lot of us really began to belive it was on that season.

That was the game. Leeds 3-0 up at Reading at HT. Us down to 10 men against Brentford who take the piss. When that second goal went in I knew it was our season as we couldn’t afford nothing but 3 points.

In times gone by he would have had a testimonial which would attract a full house.
Been a fine servant to the club but when your time is up it’s time to go you can’t just make jobs for every retiring player.
Whatever happens good luck to him.

All depends what the plan is for the future and how bad his injury is.

If he is going to make a full recovery and if we are going to persist playing a 3-4-3 then maybe there is a spot for him. Are there any other players pushing to be in the front 3? At the moment you have Berge, Gibbs-White, N'Diaye and McGoldrick. There is a huge question mark as to whether Gibbs-White would return even if we got promoted and I'm not sure how much you want to be hunting around for 4th picks. But then it depends on wages. He'd have to be more realistic; this would be a lower contract and his playing time would not be perhaps so frequent.

Never say never. I'm not one for paying agent fees for the sake of it. If it is a reduced role then is rather go with what we know that pay some greedy agent to just bring another body in for the sake of it. The likes of Osula, Lankshear and Hackford are more strikers than no 10s so there isn't a big supply line there.

reckon didz will end up coaching and doing some good work for the youth of Notts, hope he’s successful in whatever he does anyway, great servant to the club 💔

Ranks as the third best striker I've seen for united (Billy and Beattie the other 2). Finishing frustrating at times but like he said himself if he could finish he'd would've played in the prem all his career. Standout performer in an amazing team the year we went up. Would be gutting if he's not able to put on the shirt one more time, but unless it's a testimonial that looks quite likely.

Genuinely loved that game, one of my best memories of being a Blade- genuinely heroic defensive performance, and brave, still going with 2 up front. Not just McGoldrick, JOC was ridiculous that night, and even put in the sliding block challenge that burst the ball. God, only 3 years ago and makes you go all misty eyed....

I’d love for him to stay on here and do that for us/Sheffield. As well as being a great player it looks like he has been the conscience of the dressing room on some matters.

I think he is possibly one of the most underrated players of his generation. Hilarious to see Premier League fans dismissing him as some sort of Leon Clarke-esque* journeyman clogger, obviously as they had never seen him play. On his day, one of the most graceful and clever players I have seen at the Lane.

*not having a dig at Leon, another player who was brilliant for us and showed he is a much better player than given credit for. In fact, if Didz had his finishing ability, what a player that would be!

An absolute joy to watch, an amazing player for us, he definitely took us to his heart and loves the Blades and we have done the same thing with him, a love affair that I hope isn’t over even if it’s in a coaching capacity.
