...we're stuffed...
£50m later. Still reliant on a 36 year old to score goals.
How poor is that!

UTB

But that has been evident for nearly two years now.

We swapped Robinson - no tree-puller-upper, but good enough - and brought in Billy Swizz. The fucker couldn't put his boots on the right foot

We bough Mousset, three goals in fifty three incomplete outings at Bournemouth and out-of-favour for a flat £10m fee and he's done exactly the same thing at BDTBL

We bought McBurnie, after fannying whether him or Maupay who is now doing just fine in the PL thanks, despite being the natural successor to Billy Sharp

We loaned in Zivkovic. 'Nuff said

And still, te two people who look most likely to score are Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick.

And people are still hydraulically locked at the back end of their dicks about Wilder.

Brewster's injury really couldn't have come at a worse time.

Lots of pressure on McB now, even as 2nd choice striker Jebbo gets a free pass completely and I have a feeling he will do ok if given the chance.

Thankfully Sharp looks as strong as an ox. I fully expect him to get 20 or thereabouts before the season end.

In our defence Maupay never wanted to come here. We did want him but had to opt for McBurnie.

I don't disagree but isn't this true of any club's top scorer?

Mitrovic, Brereton Diaz and Solanke have scored a much higher % of their team's goals this season and none of those clubs have an equal-standard back-up ready to step in if they get injured.

Very few teams, if any, have that luxury.

Yep, bang on. We're not great but the league isn't- if we tick along with Billy scoring, others chipping in, maybe McBurnie scoring a couple and gaining some confidence, Jebbo coming on, I'd fully expect us to keep picking up points and be in the playoffs.

If Billy gets injured, it's a lot on Jebbison (if Heckingbottom trusts him). Otherwise we'd be looking at MGW or Ndiaye up front.... there's only so many backheels and flicks round the corner a man can take (by the way I think Ndiaye will be a very fine player without quite believing some of the daft hype; and some of the criticism of MGW coming back from injury is plain daft. But get hold of the bleedin thing and run at them!!! Cut out at least some of the fancy stuff that barely ever comes off).

Not equal standard no. But they still have some (not Blackburn maybe) who can score occasionally

Yeah I take the point, but 72% of our League goals have been scored by someone other than Billy Sharp.

Fulham without Mitrovic = 60%
Blackburn without Brereton Diaz = 56%
Bournemouth without Solanke = 62%

I think we're better off not being as reliant on one individual, to be honest. Gibbs-White's absence didn't affect our form and I think we can deal with Brewster, McGoldrick and Mousset not being available for the rest of the season.

Obviously our best chances are with Billy fit and ideally one or two others up to speed and chipping in.

Spot on this. If Mitrovic got injured badly today, Fulhan could quickly sink like a stone.
Most teams are just a couple of injuries away from total mediocrity.

Man City play without a recognised striker and score loads. Maybe we should adopt their tactics.

Given that there's a question mark of some sort against all our forwards, how many do we need to recruit in the next, say, season and a half to 2.....1?...2? 3?
This is after being "oversubscribed" with championship proved ones Just a few months ago.

If Billy gets injured then it will likely be McBurnie and Ndiaye/MGW.

Have no fear Jebbo is here.
I fear we are throwing farrrrrrrrr too much weight of expectation onto the shoulders of an 18 year old if honest. He's here to be rotated in for tired legs and I don't think we should expect more than that.

If he doesn't we're fucked!

My concern is that we're relying on players to score goals who aren't out and out goal scorers.

The types who will bang in a few worldies but miss too many straightforward chances. MGW and Ndiaye a prime example.

We huffed and puffed last night at times but we didn't make the keeper even move with two one on ones.

No matter how good you are, you will always get tight games where you struggle to be at your best whether due to an off day or opposition tactics/performance.

The teams that achieve usually find a way to nick these games like we have done in the past.

Last night was a big two points dropped. No need to panic as our form has been great over the last 9 or 10 matches but there's more pressure on the next two home games now to maintain the play off push.

Some people count sheep.

I literally run through that sequence in my head every night wondering how much we could claw back Wilder's egregious Premier League transfer spending!

Why didn't we leave him at Burton and loan a similar sort of player from the PL then if that's all we're going to do?

We've got 3 fit forwards, any thinking of him being cover has gone out of the window. As long as he tries and does his best then he will get the credit. The Blades love a trier even if they fail, see McGoldrick, Basham etc.

I don’t think the expectations are too high, most fans just want to see a young academy lad who has been called back from loan actually get some first team minutes. I don’t expect anything other than 100% effort from him and gaining a bit of experience to start with.

Hecky's past association with our youth team makes me think he wouldn't do anything that would hinder Jebbo's development. So, with this in mind, I assume he hasn't brought him back to simply sit on the bench for the rest of the season, unless I am totally misreading the situation.

What terrible luck with injuries ,Freeman played 13 minutes at Millwall came off with a hamstring injury out for the season. He was followed by Burke who also was subbed after 30 minutes against QPR with a hamstring injury. They follow Brewster with a hamstring, McGoldrick with his thigh and now Bogle with a knee injury.
