Got to say one of the worst away experiences I’ve had long queues for for food which was overpriced long queues for toilets which when you got in we’re overflowing so you had to stand in it how do they manage to justify all that won’t be rushing back
Got to agree. From the welcome at the train station, the argument with plod about our rights to go and get some food in a bar, the queue to get in, the lack of facilities, and the worst loos since Swindon away ! Have loved the last few but Saturday was a damp squid … literally. Next !

Maybe. But that's like saying some Asian guy did a bomb, so coppers will treat all as terror suspects.
No it isn't. If our fans have caused trouble/problems/whatever for police forces at other grounds we're going to get a rep which means some forces will prepare for the worst and be overzealous.

squib (a type of firework; it being damp = a disappointing event). A squid wouldn't be too upset at being damp.

who keeps getting that wrong ? 2nd time I've seen that.
:D

For a newish ground it has to be the worst design for a Northern European football stadium around. It would be fine in warmer climes as an athletics stadium maybe but not where it’s going to rain on a regular basis. The roofs are ridiculously far to high to keep out either rain or wind, there’s no cover behind the seats to have a drink or enjoy your tepid pie unless you like standing in the wind and rain and with no sides to the stands, no protection in the seats either. Not enough toilets as mentioned elsewhere unless you like wading through piss and not enough turnstiles to get fans in unless they all arrive in a steady dribble.
All in all, for me they’ve built a soulless dump.

I guess it's one of the older ''new'' grounds now, when did they move in there, 1995/96 kind of time? Probably one of the first new grounds after the new den, riverside, so fair enough it's dated now.

I don't think our club can complain about toilet facilities anywhere, has anyone tried ours on a home game? Especially on the Kop.

Also coppers may have been twats but so are SYP at home games again we can hardly complain about queuing to get in it's the same at the Lane.

Did some people miss the kick off due to the searches?
Yes. Because everyone was being searched, including after the game had kicked off.

The police and stewards seemed to be expecting thousands of drunken, coked up hooligans and the club and their catering facilities seemed to expecting a single coach load at 11am.
Fans should be able to expect to turn up 20 mins before kick off and get in on time. And to be able to get a coffee and a pie. And not to paddle through piss once inside.

Joined the queue to get in at 12:10. Got in at 12:40. The stewards were backed up by a security firm bought in from Liverpool. Asked them what was going on and to be fair they were very polite, and said they didn't know what the local stewards were doing either. Apparently the Scousers were brought in as backup after Barnsley fans caused some problems trying to get in in the FA Cup tie a couple of weeks ago.
As for arriving at the rail station, perhaps if the younger fans didn't sing foul mouthed abusive songs at the top of their voices when leaving the train, they wouldn't get frog marched to the Boy and Barrel 'away' pub. 'Twas the same at Derby where the gobshites got shoved in the Wetherspoons. We always just hang back and let the rabble clear, then wander off to a proper pub. But perhaps the fact that we are all silly old buggers over 60 helps.....

Must have got very busy just behind me. I joined a very short queue at about 11.55 and was at my seat for 12.00.

I left four others supping in Dewsbury whilst I went for an earlier train as having missed recent kick offs at Blackburn (and Brewsters goal) and Preston I was determined not to do it again. Needless to say, my companions missed the kick off by a distance.

Your station tactics are spot on. We always avoid the masses and go to well researched "proper beer" pubs.

The complainers seem to think that shouting at (sometimes quite frightened) locals about coming to 'shag their women and drink their beer' is a quite reasonable thing to do in a rail station. What do they think will happen? The cops will applaud them out of the station and give 'em some pocket money for beer? They've all got the brains of a rocking horse....

I don’t think it’s an ‘our cops are better than yours’ debate. Just an ‘all cops are shit’ comment.

this is the problem with football that happened today of course this is the minority was probably only negative of great match.

as they are the people give all fans a bad name. absolutely no interest in football only to there purely to cause trouble, because they have anger issues to the extent they were completely obvilous to the 4th goal going in. as they were too busy with their fake masculinity
