Great photos, thanks for posting them. Do you know if the photo of Hodgy at Everton was from October 1961? In his autobiography he described it as his best-ever performance.
Nothing wrong with entertaining the crowd with a bit of comedyGreat pics

I’m on the hunt for itWow!!! Follow that.
Well I will, have you got or ever seen a photo of Hodgy, Blad, horizontal ball in hands, flat hat on and his legs crossed showing how easy it all was for him.
Not a figment of my imagination, I had this newspaper cut out photo from around 1955, could be a little earlier, maybe. Gone now with time and never seen by me, since. You appear to have a priceless collection of Blades photos, so, with thanks for your magnificent contribution to this thread and a pre,
'Thank You' if you could produce the said photo I mention
Hodgy, best but my heart says Ted, with mention to 'Daz' for his long service and stability.
Young HJ, never saw him but knew some one who did and he spoke Very Highly of him.
Yes it is, that’s him saving a shot from Alex YoungGreat photos, thanks for posting them. Do you know if the photo of Hodgy at Everton was from October 1961? In his autobiography he described it as his best-ever performance.

Glad you liked the pictures. I looked in Hodgy’s autobiography to see if it had the picture you remember, and though it hadn’t, there were several pictures there that confirmed what you described. So I pinched them from there.Bloody Hell HBT, mi flabbers never been so gasted in all mi time a Blade. 'Fantabulosa', proper prints also thanks so much for these.
As you say they show the traits of my missing photo, which helps me believe it is out there to be discovered.
The photos, importantly, are a master class in ball handling, sadly a dying part of goalkeeping today. The first one where I'm sure the shot's come in, ball spinning, and he hasn't grasped it straight away, he's took the sting out the shot ,killed the spin by having his hands in the position they are, ball cannot go up/down left/right, then he grasps it. All happens in half the blink of an eyelid.

I have to admit I haven't read the book but on your recommendation I'll seek it out and give it a go.Glad you liked the pictures. I don’t know whether you have read the book - full of wonderful stories, Hodgy’s character comes across as we would expect. Unfortunately, lots of things went wrong in putting together the book (possibly he told his stories to whoever produced it, and things went wrong in that process). Some things would have been edited out by any of us around at the time, such as the confirmation of promotion in 61-62 being at Derby rather than at the Lane. A whole story is constructed around crowds travelling to Derby, etc., but unfortunately none of that happened. But it is still a great read.
