Well the final whistle has just gone at the lane after another defeat against one of the promotion contenders and i did fear a few weeks back that this would happen. Defeat to udders, charlton and wycombe in the last few weeks has left us 6th 7 points off the top, behind the pigs and not looking good. We played all poor sides taking us up to the top now we have come up against better sides and been turned over far to easily. I fear we will do what the pigs did last season and with preston and them next we could be down to mid table i am worried now and don't believe we have the team for a promotion challenge i think we may have the manager but his has no support. I hope i am wrong but fear i won't be.

Four of the last five matches have been poor performance and result wise and I don't think we can blame it all on bad luck in front of goal. Wilson has gone with experience and continuity so far, but it seems to me he has to make changes, maybe even additions now.

Yoiu might be right bergen, but for me it matters not what he does if we stick with that strike force. We will not get promoted with a combination of Porter, Evans and CVresswell.Simple as.

We're desperate for some pace up front, and I'd like to see a big man as an option. The "no plan B" line is often used, but it really fits right now.

Porter looks slow and rubbish. Evans looks like he's paying with a day's wages in his pocket - weighed down, slow and rubbish. At least Cresswell puts ashift in, but we're woefully short here.

I'm sure Wilson knows it. But while ever Evans is stealing £1M per year from us, our options are few. I can't think of a time I've resented / despised a player so much.

Yeah - he has tried to keep some semblance of continuity and faith in the team that lost at Wycombe but that hasn't worked today. I think Williamson and Porter should be looking over their shoulder, as neither put in much of shift against Wycombe and have been seemingly poor again today. I'm suprised that Lecs played at left back today, the loanee is a much better player, although I generally prefer using our own players (where there isn't much of a difference).

We could do with some pace or power up front but we sold that (Slew) and replaced it with nothing. Perhaps we could ask Rankine if he has players at other clubs who he could unsettle on our behalf instead of the other way round????

Evans' general play was OK today. He was by far the best forward player. But he still does nothing in the box - he doesn't attack the six yard box when the ball is coming in, and he shows no poacher's awareness whatsoever.

Slew's departure was probably unavoidable, but even in his short spell, he showed more goalscoring nouse than Ched.

I think it looked pretty obvious to me. We can bully the lesser sides with plenty of possession in the final third until they give us a chance. With the better sides we have plenty of possession but we lack pace and movement and fall back on channel balls which gives us some entertaining half chances like today, but its not the way forward.

Having played a good mix of the top and more modest teams we seem to be around our level, 6th to 8th. To be fair we'd have been satisfied with that before the season started, but we are just going to have to be patient. The problems can't be fixed until we wave goodbye to the overpaid stars and we have some budget to fix it properly...

Watching football for over 40 years I have noticed that it is good to play possession football when you are leading but if you are losing then it is easier for the opponents to defend against possession football and they were always prepared to close down our full backs when Simonsen throws the ball wide. Short throw ins and short free kicks doesnt make life difficult for opponents when we are losing

Today was a masterclass by Charlton in how to travel to a 'difficult' game and fairly comfortably play out a 2-0 win. Make no mistake, at 0-0 I knew that if Charlton scored that would be it. If we'd have scored, the pressure from Charlton would have led to (now inevitable) Keystone Cops debacle in defence.

Yes, I'm pissed off tonight but the signs have been there. We've had our comparatively 'easy' start, sniffed the top places and are disappointed now we're settling down to our 'true' level. But what is a pisser is that scoring two goals in this league will see you win 90% of your games. Who is going to get us these goals?

I can't blame individuals today, as that is about as good as they can play (or are being told how to play). For me, it doesn't matter who is up front if most of our 'service' consists of hopeful punts forward. FWIW, I thought Lecs was outstanding in the first half and Evans doesn't deserve the criticism he's getting.

Instead of always blaming the players, what about the manager and his staff? Charlton's first was a sucker-punch. Win a corner, immediately bring on a sub ('I thought you were meant to mark him!'), impressive movement as the ball comes over - the type of movement we never see - and bang. 1-0.

Wilson wasn't my choice and there will always be the question as to why he has failed so many times at this level. The trouble is he can't make the changes needed to judge him, because we are crippled by overpaid players - and the chief culprit is Evans.

He doesn't deserve the criticism he gets. He deserves far more. Never in our history has a player taken so much from us, given so little back, and escaped the vociferous criticism his plodding performances deserve.

We saw it twice today, when Collins got free of his marker for an unmarked header that the defended saved with his knackers, and again when Lowton peeeled off the back of the pack for an unmarked header, but didn't get it far enough back across the goal for anyone to get on the end of it. Easy to build from the back and get tight when you're not given much to think about.

Charlton deserved to win but were a very average football team on today's evidence.

Evans? You are joking, surely? He was feckin shocking today. Coasted trhough the game. Even the slow Porter had to run the channels for him as he lazed about in the mddle doing fuck all. He has no pace, is too slow in the head and is as greedy as fuck when there is a simple pass an go option laid on a fucking plate for him. He cannot dribble with the ball, falls over it when he tries to take on a player, turns and shoots into the defender taht is marking him. he is shite to the extent that he is not fit to lace Chris Guthrie's jock strap. Feck me - if you compare him to the likes of Keith Edwards, Deane, Agana, Hatton, etc the lad wouldn't be fit enough to clean their boots. The only decent thing he did today was the shot against the post but that's his only attribute - a decent shot -problem is he rarely gets himslef into the right position to use it. Several times today he put in a cross that showed no thought or awareness of other players - he never gets his fucking head up and look what's on.

Why have we got a sub goalkeeper when there are only five seats? Surely we need options to alter the game not cover negative positions.

Cress - ok makes sense, Flynn - I can understand BUT why no NML, or Tonne, or Philliskirk? - They are the only other players that can change a game.
For fucks sake I would have Tonne in the first team in place of Evans. He has pace, enthusiasm, eagerness, a decent shot (Evans only decent attribute).
Seems to me that DW is picking people on reputation as opposed to merit. That's a recipe for disaster.

I'd have to concede that my annoyance with Evans is not just because he's shite, but because of the huge salary he draws. I think the huge salary is what makes some others strangely still make excuses for him. There's something in the human psyche that drives them to think that it isnt possible that someone who conned such a salary can actually be the park footballer they see on the pitch. Perhaps even Wilson is still bamboozled by the number of 000,000's on the deal we struck.
