Today was a good reminder

there are now 20 clubs bottom 10 prem and top 10 championship that will be staying in that zone for years to come
we are one of those as we will be top 10 come May
these clubs will alternate between the 2 divisions for the foreseeable future

we arent the richest club but prudence on good gates keeps us as viable contenders for visits to the prem

all I want is to have 3 more prem seasons in the next 10 to match then overtake those pigs seasons years in the top flight
I dont see the owls managing getting in the prem for the foreseeable future, well not till weve invented USS Enterprises star drive

only changes either club will only change if some random philanthropic billionaire takes ove and thats less likely than me winning the eurolottery
Don’t give a toss about the Pigs 🐷

Judging ourselves against them has been the height of our ambition for many

We’re better than that and need to be more ambitious than comparing our standing to a div 1 shit show who haven’t played in the top league for 20 years

I am just removing all the superiority they point out they have , one by one
not to for us bragging about it just to shut them fuckers up
Ive only ever wanted us to win the FA cup just to shut the shits up
actually winning it is nice but twice what it would be just to silence those bastards

Yesterday was also a testament of how a team (Wolves) can get promoted, survive the first few seasons and then build a decent team despite losing the manager who got them there.

When Robinson next takes the field we should get behind him. Wolves pace and class pressured us into bad choices. So, no blame here.

I'm sure we can pick up where we left off in our own league - not that I would take Derby for granted right now. Yesterday was a blip - we just couldn't cope with their quality.

As for the ownership, I do have concerns about an ownership that has slunk off into the shadows and where we are part of a group and not the sole priority.

A testament to spending gazillions? Let's call a spade a spade shall we

That's a fair point. While we were spending 900k on Stearman as our marquee signing in the year they went up, they were getting 12-20m players on loan to buy at unheard of wages for that level.

In the PL, whilst the Portuguese theme ran strong with them, they were recruiting from Barcelona and Benfica's first team, whilst we were recruiting cast offs from Bournemouth and prizing players from Swansea and Preston.

Their trajectory would have been one we'd like to follow but their resources are miles off.

I would add as well that the Prince gets a rough ride at times.

He's basically guilty of two things - placing too much faith in the Manager who had done very well with us and separate to that, not having more money.

I find these two things to be very harshly criticised for.

Chris had no issue painting the Prince, this non-Sheffielder as the villain, undermining 'one of our own'.

But as has been said, he had a job for life if he had owned his own failings, but he back doored it. Unfortunately, he soon just became that typical football manager - I fucked up, now let the Board deal with the fall out and I'll reboot somewhere else with a clean slate.

He brushed off the idea of more governance, but it should have been Infrastructure then players. Chris probably thought he could do both if he continued to succeed but he didn't so as a result we now just have players with a negative equity and no improvements of note.

What was it that was said in the Dark Knight?

“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

If Wilder could have cut back on the pride and ego just slightly, he'd be in Hecky's role now, Sheffield United Football Manager top to bottom. The perfect role for him.

But he wasn't prepared to have a relegation on his pristine CV so snuck out the back door with his pockets full and a trail of toys in his wake.
