Kyron Gordon

If this lad doesn’t play in the next few weeks he really should be knocking the door down to leave in the summer.
We have injuries to our main back 3, we have a 38 year old and loanee playing currently who won’t be here next season. We are going down. Why aren’t we giving players like him and Brunt a taste of PL Football? It can only do them good in the long term.

A genuinely good player, with a bright future given the right handling. Been linked with Liverpool, Everton and Spurs. But Wilder is scared to play players like hun because if he plays well he’ll look a cunt.

It’s all too familiar.
It definitely can't only do them good long term

There were reports that "those big clubs" were actually interested in Kaide Gordon from Category One Academy Derby County. And that some reporter saw a name, put two & two together and got 3-5-2. Might be the case. Might not.

Edit
Sorry - just realised that's already covered higher up the thread.

It’s all dogshit put around by his gobby agent (David Reeves). Plus if he was good enough, he’d have got time on the pitch, like Hackford. Brunt, if he’s considered mobile enough for this league, will get on the pitch soon.

What time on the pitch has Brunt got? And Hackford got some pity minutes against Burnley

The big worry for me is that the rest of this season could turn increasingly toxic. We have 13 games left where we are going to be without most of our best players through injury. I would be tempted to throw a few youngsters in for the experience and to give the fans something to get behind.
I remember Ironside, Kennedy, Maguire, Long and Slew getting a chance with obviously mixed results. I realise that saying that they can't be any worse is not true, but I can't see the point of playing players who are not going to be here next year or seem to be past it.

Sounds like a future leader that young man. Hopefully he will develop and grow with us, become more and more involved with the 1st team, and be a fixture for us at the back long term. I like the look of him and he is 100% correct on that a decent centre half will talk to his fellow defenders, organise and encourage. Good signs and pleased for the lad today. He will ha e got so much out of that game today and will probably be hungry for more. Clearly Hecky rates him.

Hes the future, not the likes of JLT.

Great statement from him, obviously full of confidence and not scared to make his voice heard. He's got all the markers of a quality centre back imo. Massive Blade too, really hope it works for him at the Lane cos I love to see fans living the dream

We seem to have some very mature for their age youngsters at the club. Speak well, are very professional and humble as well.

When does his contract bring out? I read it was the end of this season? Hope not!

He did alright tbf to the lad, fingers crossed he progresses nicely. One thing is for certain though he is never a centre half in a million years, will never be that position in the top two divisions anyway, not got the height or frame for it. He should be pushing for a different slot, full back or even holding midfield.

He's only 19 and will get stronger. He is much taller than Puyol, Cannavaro, Baresi and Koeman.

I think Holgate is probably a good comparison for him in terms of stature and physique. I’m not saying he will be as good as Holgate but he has played as a kind of CB/RB hybrid most of his career.

He had a half decent game yesterday, he looked visibly nervous when closed down but I’m sure their manager said “put the kid and that shit scouse C3P0 under pressure” before the game.

You don’t put Bash under pressure though, he’d just smile at it and it would run away.

Didn't have the best of games but considering the situation and opposition didn't look out of place. Certainly not the worst defender out there.

I thought he was aveage at best but he did have Robinson at the side of him in the first half. He doesnt look strong enough for a CB probably needs to bulk up a bit but hes only 19
I wouldnt consider him a regular starter atm
He got caught out too far up the pitch at times which showed when our whole defence went missing for the 2nd goal

Slight tangent but what a great advert for Hecky as a bloke too.

He could have been throwing his toys out of the pram in the build up. Talking about an outbreak in the camp and all that bollocks that Boro so quickly gravitated towards when they saw their potential first choice XI weakened.

But no, he put a team out, no inkling of calling it off and showed faith in the youth.

When you look at that squad - Eastwood, Starbuck, Norrington-Davies, Gordon, Slater, N'Diaye, Osula all given a spot in the squad.

It would have been far easier to cry off when he knew Egan, Stevens and Davies were all out so fair play.

I don't think we just throw the kids in haphazardly but this is the sort of move I see that will bring them on and motivate them that extra percentage.

Exciting to think of the trajectory of N'Diaye, Brewster, Jebbison, Osula, Hackford and Lankshear in future years.

Not all of them will make it on a regular basis but the trick is to give them opportunity when it is appropriate to do so (like v Wolves) and see which ones sink and which ones swim.

The Battle of Bramall Lane match was good for us in that it opened up things nicely for Jags, Tonge and Monty and they all went on to have very good careers. Let's try and hold onto them at least until we know who has the ability and who can be a SUFC mainstay for a good few years. And if we have to sell, make sure its on our terms and we are well remunerated for it.

Young Sharp up front makes 8 Academy players in the squad. When did that last happen? Silent Blade ?
We had seven in the squad (out of 18 - Sunday was a squad of 20) when we beat Rotherham 1-0 in the league in 2014. George Long, Connor Dimaio, Harry Maguire and Tel Kennedy started; Louis Reed and Otis Khan came on and George Willis was an unused sub. All six who played were on the pitch between the 74th minute and the 87th.

I also really wish we'd lined up as the BBC site suggests. They've got Long, Baxter and Dimaio right; the rest wrong.

Best CB I ever played with was 5ft 9in tall. Like a fckin rottweiller. Don't need to be a big lummox if you have ability, a football brain and the right attitude.
