Just a note on Matt Hill. First trip for my kids to BDTBL so went into John St. Stand. Prior to kick off a ball came close to us and Matt went to pick it up and an older lad with learning needs was very excited in the front row. Matt was fucking ace with him and the lad was so so pleased. Just a few seconds of his time meant the world.

Probably because they can't buy until they sell and there's a distinct lack of potential suitors for those players PH wants to move on or has to sell (i.e. as any significant market value).

I suspect a repeat of previous windows with all activity back-ended, ending with the usual expectation turning ultimately into disappointment. I'm dreading the phase 'go with what we've got' as much as the inevitable and incredibly tedious fax machine jokes.
