The edge.
Creating things and not converting them is a worry.
Putting meat in the grinder is whats needed.
Pushing the panic button i am not,but after the games weve played, including the bury and colchester game-we are still not clinical enough with the chances created.
Thats all well & good as long as we score more than we concede, but the chances are that as the season goes on, games like today will crop up and sting our little pert bottoms.
Porter is a bench man IMO,not an outright 1st man on the frontline player on the teamsheet.I`m very frustrated about the whole Beattie situation-`waiting to see beattie prove his fitness`bollox.
If its true that he`s training with us,then a beattie at 70% fitness would do us in this league.
We cannot go on spurning good chances like we have been doing.Teams weve played could have been dispatched 7,8,9 goals with a clinical finisher.
Like Neil shipperley:fatbastard:.give an old dog a chance.
Im sure sir james would be worth it.

My thoughts exactly gav, our goals to shots on target ratio is abysmal and may be our downfall.
we need more goals.

here bloody here. Does Mccabe want to go back up? if so spend some money on someones wages that scores at a better rate than that of the current crop. Even the unclean take more chances than us

Biggest problem in recent years has been a dearth of chances created. Now we are playing with style and creating chances (allbeit at a shitty level) we are not converting enough of them. To be fair its 10 games into a season and its only the last couple of games we have had this moan. Give it a chance and lets see what develops. As much as I would love to see BT back in a blades shirt I am not sure its the right move for us. I'm a big believer in you never go back and if he does the weight of expectation will be greater than that of the amount he has put on his gut while with Rangers.

As for him being good enough at 70% fit to score goals at this level. Do you really want to take unfit players on and see them sat injured on the sidelines? Haven't we been down this track before with players like Ashley Ward? I for one don't want to see a frustrated BT on the sidelines and worse still turning up unfit.

In DW we trust, he will do the right thing. He has done so far.

Would far prefer it if Ched started functioning or one of our other strikers.

Well it's clear that the return of Eeyore is not the answer - maybe BT, once fit, could give em all a lesson in finishing

Let's face it there is still a dearth of quality in our forward line as it is.

Tonne and Fishacake showed more action than the existing flotsam and jetsam brigade

True but to be fair other than Colchester at home he has been truly awful

True, but then he has been out injured for a long time, and each time I've seen him I think his touch has steadily improved. Don't get me wrong, he's not the messiah, and I doubt he'll end up with more than 15 goals this season, but to scapegoat him at this stage seems a bit harsh.

I don't think our problem is Porter per se, more that we have 3 similar strikers. We need an option with pace for those games when we can't break down sides like Wycome. Unfortunately that pace decided/was allowed to go sit in Fulham's reserves rather than further his career with us!

Dont get me wrong I dont scapegoat anyone. I actually think we ought to go fo Forte on loan for the pace, he destroyed us last year

Are all these names cryptic clues to a crossword?
