James Hill

Read a report saying James was good in the air as well. He's about 6'0.

Bare in mind that Davies could be recalled or his Mrs' health gets even worse so we may not see him again we'll need more than 1 CB unless we think Lopata is ready for the bench.

Maybe Hill could play in the centre of the 3 and move Egan to the left. It's where he plays for Ireland so like he can't play there.

Matt Hill was much better as an undersized Centre Half than he was as a Full Back I always thought, but either was he got too much stick.

Is this the Rhian Brewster/Ryan Leonard/Dan Burn thread of this transfer window?

Hodgy is better than yashin
Mick hill is better than Eusebio

Etc etc

Disappointing as we should be able to compete fee wise and it’s the type of player we should be targeting

Shame. I'll tell my self that we were never in for him anyway.

Seems we can't compete with Bournemouth, sad times!

Showing the Prince up a bit if that's the actual fee!

I don't think we have £1.6m to spend. In fact, I don't think we have anything to spend without offloading.

The money from the Prem has been & gone. Our owners don't have the will, or the way to bankroll us.

Aside from Slav's very mediocre performance I think the above is also largely why he's gone. He wouldn't have been happy to accept no incomings.

Sad that we can't even compete with feckin Bournemouth for a reported fee of £1.6m which isn't a lot of money these days (not when you consider what we have chucked out of the window on utter gash). Wasn't that long ago that we were buying Ramsdale off of them whilst I could swear that we have been in the PL more recently than they have. United should be all over this lad like a rash. Potential, decent player now and in a position thag we sorely need to strengthen. Surely after 2 years in the PL we aren't that hard up in competing for these types of players? I get it that we don't have a lot of money knocking about but it incompetence of the highest order if we have had £300-£400m in PL payments and its all gone down the shitter through bad purchases and wages paid.

I was hoping that we would be looking at getting in a couple of decent players this window and getting some wages off the books by trying to lose 4 or 5 players. Surely that would free up some budget?

Don't really get this as a stick to bash the Prince with. Just based on conjecture.

Literally no-one has any idea what discussions have gone on behind the scenes. We may have chosen not to pay that, we might have matched the fee but the player has chosen Bournemouth.

Could be based on wages, could be based on wanting the best chance of promotion, could be on promise of first team football, could fancy the South Coast.

Most (not all before you chime up) on here also will also not have seen this player in action for a minute on highlights, let alone 90 mins. He could be great, could be shite.

There's not even much point judging our transfer activity at the end of January, let alone the 5th! See how results pan out between now and the summer 👍

Thing is Bournemouth spent a good number of years in the PL versus our 2yrs so are a much richer club presently.

Like us, they still have parachute payments, but in comparison, they also sold players to balance books after relegation:

2020/21 outs
Ake, Wilson, Ramsdale, Arter = ~£85m

2021/22 outs
Danjuma, Surridge & Rico = ~£25m

That's why we can't compete.
