PNE - match cancelled

Only 59% of EFL players vaccinated! Or to put it another way 41% unvaccinated. That is outrageously low. The FFL and clubs should have been tackling this problem months ago. These figures are way below those for rest of population. I know you can’t force people to be vaccinated but you can take steps to encourage players and try and deal with objections etc..
It is highly suspicious that Ryan Lowe doesn’t know how many players have COVID. What proof do the EFL require? Does look like they are using covid to cancel matches when they have injuries to key players. Also looks like the 14 player rule quoted in the article is not being enforced.

Simple solution is that any unvacinated player who has to self isolate without having the virus should be on statutory sick pay for the length of the time they have to self isolate, soon be up to 100% vaccination when the greedy fuckers realise its affecting their wages

Where's the number 23 out of interest?
23 is their actual squad list of players that if available have to be counted in the 14. The 40 is just off of PNE's website, that includes youth players and players out on loan.

SUFC will play an important Championship game v Preston North End combined U23 & U18 XI with a goalkeeper at Full Back = Not Football
SUFC will play Preston North End, both teams will be close to full strength, but no fans will be in the ground = Not Football
SUFC will play Preston North End on 2 May. That will be their 4th game in 9 days, and they'll then have only three games to complete before the completely made up deadline for the end of the season = Not Football

The only way forward is to start open ended seasons. Play games when most players aren't missing through Covid & when regulations allow fans in. If those conditions can't be met - don't worry about it - when they are, restart the season. If one season starts in August 2021, but finishes in January 2024, so be it. Sheffield United Championship Winners Season 2021/24. That's Football. That's learning to live with the Virus. The football authorities are just pretending they can make it all work under their current - fuck me, that isn't football - solutions.

The guidance says mask must be worn on the inside areas - concourses, toilets etc I assume. May not be obligatory when in the outside areas, namely the seats. Mind you many fans seem to spend about half of the match down on the concourse for one reason or another.
So they want you to wear a muzzle for three hours
• Face masks are now mandatory in all inside areas of Bramall Lane, including the concourses, except when eating or drinking. We also strongly advise to wear face coverings in outside areas if applicable to maximise the safety of all supporters.
I never said you had to wear a mask

It's getting to the point where normal blokes our for a day out and a few pints are going to say fuck it and miss the match entirely, let's be honest it's tempting to stay in the pub at the best of times

You can’t force the jab on people though , and if it’s not in their contract you can’t fine them !
No but those causing pressure on the NHS due to needing hospitalisation are, primarily I believe, the ones who haven’t been vaccinated. If I decide to travel to sub Saharan Africa but forego the recommended yellow fever, cholera, hepatitis etc vaccines I wouldn’t be given too much sympathy if I succumbed.

Bright side, I wasn't going to be able to get to the Boxing Day fixture but I now may be able to when it's eventually rearranged. 😀

And a three year long season = not football
20% of clubs will have gone under no tv money no sponsorship loans to banks not paid no players -as contracts have run down-
Payers have found employment elsewhere in the football world
A very romantic deluded solution

And, of course, a game that has sold itself so far down the shit creek it needs TV Money, Sponsorship from Companies marketing things we've never heard of, mortgaged to the hilt, paying wages it can't afford just to survive is also = not football.

You gotta break it, to make it...

Can't be that interested in the football then, maybe these casuals would be better off in the pub in the first place?

You wouldn't be allowed in.

Having to cope with a fixture pile-up at the end of the season is one thing. If you then have to go straight into play-offs it's another.

Fuck it just change the league structure to divisions of 20 teams, that saves you 6 match days and builds in extra capacity, also think the international break should only effect teams that have more than 4 players from their previous starting 11 line up in international duty. Give the young uns a chance. Not sure how you would do the above but it’s Christmas so....

Can't see any team fulfilling their full 3 games in a week. I can see them pulling a couple of games, then play them in the next vacant FA cup slots. Can't see any Championship club getting overly excited about the FA cup. Think they'll use covid as a , play when it benefits the club and 3 games over Christmas will not be too beneficial to them.

This. I suspect bosses in other sectors aren't going to put up with staff regularly self isolating for 10 days just because they've chosen not to have a vaccine.

The covid pass is very easy to obtain unless you have the intelligence of a squirrel or ollie mcburnie
Not really.. I've over 70 calls trying to even get in a call queue to find my NHS number In the last 3 weeks from my doctors with fuck all luck.
Atm I'm double jabbed but have fuck all way to prove it. I can't even get the painkillers that allow me to function day in day out, despite them being on a repeat scrip.
And as far as vaccines go I've been told I need to get my second booked in so I can have the booster, even though I had the 2nd jab last month! I've already posted proof I'm doubled jabbed, yet they want me to have the 2nd again so I can have the booster.
Shits fucked.. And it isn't my fault at all.

This is sad. Boxing day football is Xmas for me; Xmas day is boxing day Eve.
Same for me, this was all I'd been looking forward to this Xmas, proper day out all sorted, good booze up with all the lads and family, now I'll be booking a day off work in January or whenever it gets re arrainged. (Tuesday fucking night 7.45 kick off)

Oh and on a side note that prick at Preston is on about calling the WBA game off as well, wonder why he doesn't fancy playing WBA and Sheff Utd over the Xmas period? And before you defend him he didn't know the amount of players he had out with covid, so it shows how seriously he took it... "maybe 5 or 6, you stop counting at that point" sorry pal, you don't, because it's important that you the manager know the answer.. Full weight..

Those days went in the early 60s it is football but not as purist and romantics would want it
Better stadiums more family focused as a spectator sport
More elite athletes = technically better players and a better spectator experience more access to games than ever before
None of that would exist without money
My only gripe is that not enough filters down to grass roots including schools
But that’s capitalism and power for you

I mean we're agreeing aren't we? SUFC v Preston North End U18s one week, then SUFC U18s v Hull City the next week - no one's going to pay for that on TV. Nor pay good money to have their company name on the shirts. That's not elite athlete v elite athlete, surely. Sure Preston U18 may eventually become technically better players, but it's not good to force Preston to play them when they're not ready. That's not Romantic, that's Realistic. If you can't play games, you can't play them.

Look on your repeat script you NHS number is on that it’s also on your meds and that it’s also at your pharmacy
You also have the opportunity to register without knowing your NHS number
But as you say not your fault 😁
