Jayden Bogle Appreciation

Bogle gives us flair down that right side which George doesn't have.

It's a real battle for that shirt at the moment.

Certainly think playing 3 at the back helps as he has the added defensive security of Bash.

Been critical of the defensive side of his game the past, but he had a great game yesterday.

Worra player

Shirts his to lose now after last night I don't think you can question his defensive abilty now
To be fair he's taken long enough to make that shirt his. But like you say, his shirt to lose... Unless of course you decide next week that McBurnie deserves a go instead ;)

Correct its took us a season and a half to give him a proper run in the team and guess what hes finally showing the potential that we signed

Its almost like signing a player then not playing them means the player will find it 100x harder to show why we signed them

Much like Brewster who when he played 3 games in a row in his natural position scored 2 goals after everyone said he was the worst player in united history

Same goes for Mcburnie , I'll write him off when he has had a run in the team , he did in the prem and he looked more than good enough in the league above

Steady on ... McBurnie will never be a footballer whilst he's got a hole in his arse.

Recovered from cramp to take an absolutely brilliant booking: nowhere near the ball, ran straight into Kebano, took him down. Well played Jayden.

Cleaned him out good style. The thing is it looked like Basham was getting to the ball to clear it. 😂

Appeared at one point to be injured or was it just cramp. That was just before he took Kebono out and could hardly move. Hope hes fit for next game.
We paid a lot of money for him and he was very highly rated at Derby. May be it was money well spent! Funny how just about every player last night had probably their best game of the season (maybe except MGW). Sign of good manager to get best from players?

Looked like cramp and I think Hecky confirmed that post match.

He was excellent last night.

I still think he's a winger or wide right in front 3 and that's a testament to his attacking ability and eye for getting in the box.

Also worth mentioning that Bash is doing him the world of good for support in both halves.

Mentioned this another thread but it looks like he's been dealt with similarly to Freeman when Freeman was given the shirt after Brayford got shipped out. Freeman had all the flair etc but was a bit nesh. The lad got given shirt, shaved his head and had a bit of brute injected into his game. The rest is history.

Similarly, Bogle has the flair etc but was lacking a little defensively. Last night though the lad was right up their lads arse and competed brilliantly for headers.

On another day he gives away two penalties though. Luckily referee's at this level are a bit nesher in the box than the PL twats.
Are you talking about when mitrovic had bogles shirt and bogle had mitrovic too?

Think the ref got it spot on tbh, nothing in it.

Im not sure if you look at the modern full back most of them are midfielders/wingers who have been pushed back into wing backs playing in a 5 is best of both worlds IMO he has to be good at both

You can learn how to defend , you cant learn to have pace take players on

I think he could be our biggest asset if he carries on like how he has the last few weeks

Its not about writing players off (seems that’s what you’ve done with Billy though) but I i think with the three you’ve mentioned they’ve all had runs in the team and had chances.

You’ve glossed over the early season Bogle that when he got his chances in the side he looked terrible. We know that there’s a player in there as we saw him burst into the side last season (and Max Lowe is doing it at Forest too), but when he’s had his chance earlier this season he didn’t take it.

Its good that he’s settling into the side now, Hecky has reverted to the Wilder way and that is easier for many of our players to play. So, long may it continue.

McBurnie will play his part too. Just needs to shuffle less and get back to the hard working striker we saw when he came in. For now though it’s Billy’s shirt to lose

I haven't written Billy off , hes 36 and if we want to build a team for the future he isn't going to be in that long term plan IMO

He is a solid player I just think playing Mcburnie is a better long term plan , last night Bill grafted his balls off and fair play to him

A few months ago the general feeling was to get rid of half the team, I know it is early days for Hecky but the transformation in some of the players has been amazing. I think it might be interesting to see peoples thoughts on who we should keep at the start of January, I'd be betting the "get shut" list will be considerably shorter.

It was as clear as day this lad was full of ability. He just needed to strengthen up and be more defensively aware which he certainly was last night. Great to see.

This is a shit or bust season not a team building exercise. The future is getting to the prem now, this season, this is why we waisted no time sacking the last manger and now we are back on track with Hecky.
The prince acted so quickly because he is fully aware of the financial ramifications of spending another season in the championship and the need to get back to the prem,if we don’t we will have little choice but to ‘build a team for the future’ but on very very reduced budget and we could find ourselves in the lower leagues for many a year.
Billy plays because he’s the best we’ve got NOW!
The manager picks the team and until he thinks someone else deserves to take Billy’s place Billy stays No1 choice.

I don’t see it as a battle it’s deffo good to have a strong defender pushing Bogle in training but Bogle offers so much more going forward and some end product. If we continue with 3CB he has to start over Baldock.

if only we had another like him for the left side

I always thought he looked a class player even when everyone else was slagging him off. There was something about the lad that i liked even when he was struggling but once again i always thought Rammers was class to when others slagged him off,

I always thought he looked good without playing that well

If he can dominate going forward and carry on like last night defending there’s a £20 mill + RB in bogle
