Hope he lasts' longer than he did as a player - as I remember signed from Huddersfield Town pre season - got injured in either pre season match or first match and never played 1st team again! Right sided midfield I think - Darren will put us right!

If you read the official site, you'll see that he has an Honours Degree in Recreation Management from Hallam University.

I seem to recall seeing him play in a pre-season match against Rotherham United (Yorkshire and Humberside Cup?). He looked a very tidy player and scored a good goal.

As it happens, I don't have a degree. I left school with 8 O levels at a time when Uni didn't seem so important (1956). I had the chance but turned it down in favour of getting a job. I've never regretted my decision. I did subsequently get a professional diploma, and I've had a decent and varied career but I learned most from the 'University of Life'.

For the first time in a while a decent signing at board level I think.

Farnan, Birch and so on gone (over £1m off the wage bill) and an enthusiastic, intelligent and well respected Chief Exec in. Exactly what we need in my opinion, hopefully with Dave Mcarthy and his team performing well and backing him up.
