Good to see the ref at Barnsley v West Brom checking Hawkeye working by holding the ball over the line before kick-off.

Shame Michael Oliver didn’t test it was switched on before he let Villa steal a point when we played them at Villa Park and escape relegation 😡

I thought it was decided that Hawkeye was working OK but all the cameras didn’t have a clear sight of the ball and line because unfortunately ALL the possible camera angles were obstructed by bodies or the goal post and bar framework so Hawkeye could not confirm the ball crossed the line.

Yes, that was the bollocks they fed us with

That was the reason they gave, but of course that was complete bollocks, they just forgot to turn it on.

Good result for the dingles. I hope we finish above the Baggies. I know a few WBA fans, and they are being very annoying lately.

I would be annoyed watching the terrible football that they play.
kick it, head it, kick it again but harder

Oh don’t forget his watch didn’t ping until half time and the other idiot VAR chap “Tierney” sat on his arse didn’t review it

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Genuine question, did the not given goal actually save Vanilla from the drop?.

Me too. Bournemouth were the ones who surprised me, they had a great case but knowing football they probably got quite a lot of hush money. 🤷‍♂️
Yeah Bournemouth should have been far more pissed off about it than us.

I think I was the most pissed off.
Watching it in real time our lot were going mental that the ball had crossed the line.
I was telling them all to calm down.
"Don't worry, Hawkeye will sort it. Its much better than that VAR bollocks, never gets owt wrong" 😳

Seems strange that of all the 7 cameras that Hawkeye apparently uses on each goal, sky has 1 camera sitting on the by-line that clearly shows the ball over the goal line.

It's happened once in ALL the games that have been played and none since the incident.

As for bodies obstructing the alleged 7 cameras - the PL could have killed all possible comments by showing said cameras and associated photos/angles.

Seem to think, no actually evidence was proved at all - all we have is "Hawkeye was working".

All everyone wanted and that includes a huge number of neutral fans was "just show us the evidence"..........................cue silence from those that matter.

I felt sorry for Bournemouth who would have stayed up had the game finished 1 nil to United.

Its true if the official line was "all 7 cameras were obscured by players/posts" then show us the picture. They cant it wasnt turned on.
We also have never had it confirmed that the VAR ref saw it had crossed the line, he after all was watching the match. Doesnt matter whether VAR was consulted or not
or what the rule is if VAR referee was watching the match they will have come out and said yes it crossed the line even after the match.

VAR could have cleared it up simply there and then but they were not in the booth they had nipped out for a Costa Coffee so they never saw it and for all we know
VAR wasnt turned on either.

Its all water under the bridge anyway

I seem to recall that we were told that it wasn't VAR's job to check goal-line hawkeye decisions.

Yeah I know that but the VAR referee still watched the match did they or did they not come out after the match and said yes we saw the goal over the line ?

If the VAR referee isnt watching the match what the hell is he doing ? If you were the VAR referee and you were watching the match, you saw what unfolded wouldnt you go let me just rewind that bit and check it. In fact if he had same feed as Sky they showed the ball over the line. Doesnt matter he didnt check in with the ref did he see it ?

or are they like the contestants friends on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, they only check the footage if the ref asks them too ? In that case still what they hell are they doing if not watching the match ! :)

I seem to recall that we were told they were having pie and mash in the cafe over the road.

The net was in the way.
I did hear that the Sky camera's are different to the VAR Hawkeye ones.
I’d like to know where they’re situated then.

If Sky can get a clear view from both sides of the goal whether the ball has crossed the line, with not one player “occluding“ the view, why can’t a system designed and built specifically for that purpose get a clear shot. Where are the camera’s positioned such that players who are all the other side of the goal line can manage to block its view.

I don’t for one minute believe it was switched on, if it was why have they never published the pictures? They lied about it. They would have been better owning up to it rather than lie about it.

People can make a mistake, we all know that. Lying about it to try and cover it up stinks.

I’d also like to ask why didn’t the linesman or whatever he’s called signal the goal? He had a clear view and that can be seen from some of the Sky shots.
