Excellent day that, the Sprinbok boozer bang outside the ground was rammed with luminous yellow shirts. As you say a terrific following that day and strangely enough despite not seeing those goals for about 30 years in recalled them instantly as soon as I saw the highlights. The away end was rammed that day. Good times, nearly half a life time ago.

I remember standing outside the Springbok that day when a coach of Blades crawled past. One lad pointed at my pint and mouthed the question ' how much?. Practically all the coach fainted when I replied '£2'.
Once they'd recovered from the shock they all got off the coach and piled in to the nearby offie.

New Years Day 1991 1-0 v QPR at home.

Not the most memorable game, apart from we got a very badly needed 3 points at the beginning of our survival that season. I think that was our 3rd win of the season after Forest and Luton. Brian Deane scored an early winner with a flicked header from a corner at the kop end and Roy Wegerle skied a penalty at the other end, much to the relief of the home fans.

I was sat in the kop with my mates and during the 2nd half their keeper routinely caught the ball to which a lad behind us said, "Ey, wunt it be rayt funny if their goalie died?".

Didn't Billy Whitehurst play centre half for some of that match due to injuries?

24 February 1970 - Blades 2 QPR 0 - my first ever United match.

All downhill from there...…………...

I seem to remember a boring 0-0 at the Lane sometime in the 70’s. Stan Bowles playing for QPR and maybe TC for us before he left for the dirties ??
