fragrant ?

Seth Bennett said that as he was registered to Rangers on Aug 1st then he cant sign for anyone until the Jan window. But if the have ripped up his contract then surely he is free to join anyone

Putting Beattie to one side for a moment, are there any other free agents we could invite for a trial? Can't find a list from a quick Google search.

we got a striker awaiting trial if thats any good.

Why would they rip up his contract is he crap now ?.

Coz Rangers are up the creek money wise

everton and newcastle are both in for him.
weve not got a cat in hells chance of bringing him back.
imo,i dont think a move to the prem will re-ignite his career, but it will fill his wallet.

I doubt mention of Everton or Newcastle is anything more than journo laziness or suggestion from his agent, probably due to the fact both are low on strikers. Last time he was available he ended up at Blackpool and did not do well - and Rangers fans have absolutely nothing good to say about him. He isn't a striker that can play at the top level any more in my opinion, and I can't see anyone in the Premiership taking him on.

come on blades go for him. He can only say yes or no

Move along, nothing to see here.

We can't afford him, whatever he is on these days. Whatever that is will be more than he is worth.

The way to approach Beattie is simple. Tell him he can come back here, and given the amount of money he has trousered in the past he'll not need any more than Slew was on.

Offer him the chance to end his career here.

Tell him he could become a legend instead of an afterthought. Then duck as he laughs like a drain and fucks off to the big money.

Not the most reliable of sources though!

In a way I don't really want him to come back. Could upset the squad harmony, and I'd rather remember him from when he was in his prime.

id welcome him back,i think our league is his level now.
but its not going to happen unless he`s finally realised his wage demands are unaffordable and we could finish his career here.
ALBEIT,the james beattie thread has new life.
id love him back though.xx

When all this first surfaced on BM last week (actually it may have been 2 weeks ago), someone posted rightly or wrongly that he was coming back and that he would work within our pay structure.

Of course at the time, I and many others thought it was all complete bollox, but it just wont go away.

A poster was talking to KM yesterday. No names mentioned, but apparantly KM said that we are to sign a striker and an international LB if the two scottish loans don't make it.

All rumours of course!

bladesmad is about as believable as the inbetweeners movie

It doesn't make much sense to add a striker type similar to what we've already got, especially if he's oldish and expensive. Cresswell and Porter seem ok at this level, and we should looking for someone to add pace. I'm sure Beattie would do well, but we need to build the squad by carefully adding pieces we're missing.

I'd take Beattie tomorrow despite being similar to what we've got. We either need 2 new strikers, one with pace and one genuine goalscorer. Alternatively, we need to start give Philliskirk his chance... and considering he's pacy, he'll be good for that role. That would leave one other striker needed, and Beattie would score a hatful at this level.

given what he did yesterday and midweek I would be happy to see Tonne play up front. I know he is more midfield but he looks like he could do a good job for us and looked more of a threat than Slew did

From what I've heard (not seen enough myself) pace isn't Philliskirk's strength Houso. Keep in mind that the signing of Beattie (assuming his wage demands are still pretty high) would limit strengthening in other areas, as well as reduce our ability to hold onto our best players in the next window. It is easy for us fans to imagine the goals a player could score, but I think we should also keep in mind the financial side of it while also evaluating what effects such a signing would have on us beyond this season.

In line with the money side of the the deal: Beattie or Ched? IF the former comes in the latter will have to go. Which would be the best option?

That's an easy choice. Beattie or Ched? Beattie, hands down, provided of course we could afford the former and get rid of the latter.

A more difficult choice would be Strategically Shaved Chimp or Ched? One is a reasonable bet as a lower division stiker, and the other is Ched Evans.

what I don't understand though is the two Scots are midfielders, an area where we have more than enough players, yet if they don't come we will go for a striker and a left back. Eh?
I think that we actually need a striker and a defender.
