I think that contributing to his £120,000 a week may be a problem!
Depends on how big the contribution, whether he would drop out of Premiership and whether Man.U would allow him to go to any other club in the top half.
My guess is that he goes abroad, hence the question mark in my post !!

I think Olsen has been a below average keeper since coming in but I back him to improve. If Foderingham had a run of 5 bad performances in net, I'd dismiss any notion of him improving.

Olsen is the better option in my opinion.

So if Foderingham had 5 bad performances he can't improve but Olsen could, despite the fact Olsen is 31 and Foderingham is 30.

Olsen so far has seemed very shaky, sure he makes a few nice saves but he seems to have absolutely no confidence, no communication with his (admittedly very flakey) back 4 and doesn't seem to command his box. On the other hand from the little we've seen of Wes I was impressed, he made a few decent saves and got out to claim stuff, so, would you put Wes in for a few games or stick with Olsen? Personally I'd give Wes a go.
Mork calling Olsen.

I think Goalkeepers do make mistakes. I think we expect they never should. There have been the odd incident when he has made errors, compounded by his distribution. On the other hand, I feel his sheer size and reach have somewhat reduced our usually gaping vulnerability at set pieces. I would look instead to another side of his game, which is more disappointing. How often, when watching or listening to a game this season, has an outstanding save by the opposition impacted on the game, I think Blackpool and Millwall for sure. Games where ostensibly we have had better/similar chances to the oppsition. In the majority of games, we have had better/more chances than the opportistion and this is not just an issue of our bad finishing. He has never been the difference in a game for us, whereas opposition keepers regularly have. I know modern keeping is more about footwork and positioning and reducing the need for an acrobatic save. But as what I assume is one of biggest wage earners and supposedly transformative signings...he simply has never been a difference in games. Would still pick over Wes for now,....there should be a higher ceiling in there. But the standard he is producing, I would seriously be thinking of a change come Jan.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, with his performances at international level in mind. We have evidence of him being a decent keeper in recent times. Not sure we have that evidence for Foderingham.
Age isn't the issue.

The simple maths is Olsen is currently keeping a clean sheet 1 out of every 9 games. With a run record like that we will struggle when we aren't scoring down the other. I don't know if there is a footballing language barrier Sweden are a decent international side and Roma aren't a bad side either maybe Olsen is expecting too much or isn't that good a keeper as usually doesn't have so much to do?

I'm starting to believe he came in expecting it would be easy enough to deal with Championship strikers. Not sure he saw any footage from the previous season before coming to that conclusion though. Either way, I feel like he needs to accept his performances have been well below par and needs to buck his ideas up.

I can certainly see that too, the Championship is so underrated as a league especially when compared with the other European 2nd tiers

we wont see the best from olsen until we bring a solid physical defensive midfielder in to protect the back 4 teams are getting through us too easily with norwood and fleck in midfield

If we're looking at simple stats...

Foderingham has played in 3 league games, keeping 1 clean sheet. However, he's faced 9 shots on target and has conceded 3 goals, indicating a save % of 66.7%. Olsen has faced 46 shots on target in 11 games and has conceded 17, his save % is even worse at 63.0%. Both of those save ratios are poor which indicates that our issue is the quality of chance we're giving up rather than the quality of the man between the sticks tasked with keeping them out*.

FWIW, according to fbref.com our goalkeepers have the second worst save ratio in the Championship, only ahead of Luton (which made our 0-0 with them somewhat inevitable!). Verrips has a 20% rate from his only start at West Brom 😂

*to further this argument, Ramsdale has a 66.7% rate from his two starts with us this season and Johnstone has a ratio of 65.7%. Both of those goalkeepers have been deemed good enough to make the England squad this season.

I feel that he may be looking higher than a lower mid-table championship side in truth, hardly likely to increase his worth at old Trafford playing behind our defence is it

At this stage last season many of us (including me) were convinced Ramsdale was never going to make it. Is it possible that our keeper coaches are pretty good and can turn Olsen round as well, give them all time.

was going to just make the same point
he was chucked behind a dodgy defence in a confidence free team
I think there been 3 or 4 he could have done better with but you can say that of most keepers

Very, very simple maths. Clean sheets aren’t just down to the Keeper, the whole team are responsible for ensuring the opposition don’t score. Those in front of him aren’t doing enough at the moment

Totally agreed there. If you put Olsen in a team like Man City or Chelsea etc he would probably be conceding half as many as the outfielders don't let as many chances. We are in desperate need of either an outfield defence shakeup or a DM

Looks like he might be in net this weekend. Olsen potentially out with an injury.

I agree that Olsen can get better with better performing defence. I think those who call for Henderson are not being realistic. Why would he come back here? He is 3 seasons on in his career since coming to us. Proved himself in premier league, coming to us would be a step backwards for him, Compared to his ambition

I like Wes. He seems a lot more switched on than Olsen and, more importantly, looks like he actually cares and wants to be here. Olsen can go back for me, I'm more than confident with League One Wes between the sticks.

After nearly dropping that cross into his own net I thought I’d come on here to see everyone slagging him off

Ye I shat me sen for that one, otherwise a solid game, and as others have said he was much more commanding of his area

There's two moves we can start off the transfer window with.

1. Work with his agent and find another club for Olsen. It looked great on the tin but he's no better than what we have. If he can get a deal elsewhere, even if there isn't a break clause, there must be a way a mutual termination could work if best for both parties. May as well give Wes the shirt.

2. Let Smith rekindle his interest in Hourihane. Might not be the day for it today as 2nd half he was at least involved but he's clearly not got the legs for what we're missing and frankly I'd rather see Slater or Brunt.

And to be honest, if we're intent on playing a 4 most weeks, I'd have no issue playing Lopata and binning Davies. You need a few thugs at this level. Yes he has his good moments but he's a bit weak in the challenge for me and defenders have to be able to defend. The rest is the icing on the cake, especially if you play in a two, as we have most of the season.

Wes was great last night! Crowd was singing his name all throughout the second half for those who couldn't hear.
