It seems that Morgan wont be back til Christmas, according to DW.

Is anyone else worried that we don't have a confident CB, the closest we've got to experience is Collins, and lets face it, he's hardly inspiring.

Would you like to see a loan signing? Or even a permanent if we can sell a player or two to get the funds. Would it be worth it?

Claude Davis has been released by Palace...

We're certainly short on experience there but it doesn't look like another CB is on DW's radar at all. We have Lowton, maybe Parrino, Maguire, Lecs, Collins so he probably thinks we're just about covered though as ever, a couple of injuries and we'd be shafted. There's always loans ;)

I think people also need to lay off Collins a bit and give him a chance, he's looked OK pre-season and has been part of a promotion team at this level before. Yes, he's made mistakes but who hasn't and you can't blame anyone for a lack of confidence last season.

I was always under impression that Morgs was out until Christmas - if he ever comes back. I feel that we need to have three first team centre halves as well as Morgs. Collins (like him or not, he is here to stay), Maguire and Lesc could be the three. Lowton is more than adequate cover and young Kennedy would also be ok.

if we have a back 4 of lowton, collins, francois and kruk

with morgan, taylor, parrino, maguire to cover i would like to think we will get another cb before the window shuts (not a loan a permanent signing)

DW seems to think striker is the priority, i would argue it LB, CB and CM - get kruk and mcdonald and thats 2 of the 3 sorted.

Weve got porter, slew, boggy, cresswell and ched - surely thats enough until one of them goes?

I am indeed. Then again he may be no worse than Collins.

Collins is consistently a worse player than Davis. At least Davis had some good moments, which is more than can be said for Collins. But by God, when Claude was bad he was catastrophic

I still have nightmares about the mix up between him and Gerrard which led to Portsmouth's equaliser at the Lane in Jan 07. They basically left it for each other for about 5 minutes before a Portsmouth player stepped in to tap it into the goal.

Of course, had that game stayed at 1-0, we would ultimately have stayed up (but then you could say that about loads of other incidents that season...)

Don't - just don't! I went to a lot of matches that season, and every balls-up and missed chance is forever in my mind. Like the one-on-one for Webber away at Fratton Pa.....no, let's just stop there.

Paddy Kenny's 'faut pas' against Everton springs to mind. Another two points thrown away.

Unsworth's 98 penalty misses against Blackburn was even worse considering he scored 'that' penalty for Wigan on the final day of the season.

Warnock's team selection v Wigan and comments in the press in the week leading up to the game.

Shelton's penalty not given at Old Trafford.

The goal disallowed at West Ham.

Gerrard's dying swan routine on the opening day.

The list goes on!

To be fair, Unsworth only missed one of those penalties. Hulse missed the other.

Also to be added are Everton's 2 goals in their win at Goodison, one of which was a penalty that never was and the other of which should have been ruled out for a foul.

The stonewall penalty for the trip on Bromby at Everton which was not given, coupled with one of their goals being given after our defender (can't remember which one) was fouled.

But on the other side of the coin, we were awarded a (winning) goal at Watford which was pretty clearly offside.

Independent Arbitration (26th Sep 08):- “It is indisputable but that the breaches of the Rules caused Mr Tevez to be registered as a West Ham player. If West Ham had acted honestly towards the Premier League, Mr Tevez would not have been a West Ham player for the 2006-7 season”

A mate of a mate, (don't all good rumous start like that?) who is 'ITK', claims he will never play for us again.

Getting back to the topic - we could always sign an established defender on loan if things don't go well - how about that Nosworthy bloke?
