Why does it make sense? If you don't have enough first teamers, put kids there or just don't fill the bench. Seven subs is far better in my opinion, it allows you to cover more angles. Five players doesn't always allow you to cover every position on the pitch, unless you have a "utility" player and not having a GK is risky (unless you have Jags at centre half).
Agree with you. Why have they changed it?
Bad for youth development. It should have been 5 but you can have an additional 2 under21's.
Now this is a fantastic idea for youth development, tho it doesnt mean teams will utilise the youths it does allow young, upcoming players tosample and experience full match days.

It was fine when it was just 3. Bigger benches only benefit bigger teams.
5 subs is plenty one GK, one Defender, One Midfielder, 2 forwards.
I would prefer: 1 GK, 1 defender, 1 defensive midfielder, 1 attacking midfielder, 1 striker.
And, ideally, a balance of left and right-footed players
If the kids are good enough, then they'll get their game time.
