My own personal opinion is that they should let the women play on the Saturday after the main event has finished and players have done warm downs so maybe 5:30 ko and anyone that has a match ticket for the men's game can stay and watch and likewise anyone that wants to just watch the women can buy a ticket but can't enter ground before 5pm that is the only way that the women will get any interest from the current fan base
You'd be better putting them in before and including them in the matchday ticket. Time their game to end at 2-2:15. Might even be able to get a pint in between games. Get more people making a day of it, save on costs of playing in Chesterfield.

Whilst trying like mad to not offend, because I'm pretty switched on and very acceptive of all cultures and genders etc..

How long will it be before the trans situation occurs as we saw in the Olympics and suddenly we're watching a team primarily of former males playing the women's game... It'll only need the introduction of better money via television rights and you watch the big 6 start to sign trans footballers to gain obvious advantages, and financial gain, cynical I know... But.

Please note : Former males who have transitioned have a perfect right to play women's football should they identify as female, and I'm not saying otherwise..

Finally : Somebody had to grasp this nettle, sorry if somewhere in the written words I've offended anybody, it wasn't my intention, apologies up front if so but it's been difficult to word, just I can see this in the near future..

Get wigs and a bit of make up on brewster and mcburnie and we just might see a league goal between them this season... Then again..

I mean Harry Kane is clearly desperate to win a trophy but I don’t think he’d go that far…

Hattie Kane 🥰

I watch England women play whenever they are on TV,i watched them demolish Luxemburg 10-0 the other nite while listening to United v Sarthampton.

Alex Greenwood scored i'm sure JOC was delighted for her.

I might just go and watch my first womens football game live.

I've no interest in women's football, but good luck to them. If they want to get their attendances up, then maybe more women should go and watch them? I would guess the ratio of men to women supporters in the men's game is around 10:1. If women applied the inverse ratio to their game, attendances would be just as high as the men's game. Instead, they seem to be relying on the same set of supporters (ratio 10:1) to support the women's game too. And this is just an observation. Please don't send me vitriol accusing me of being a sexist pig. But in advance, if you do, then I'll get the 'fuck off' in early.......

I'm struggling to see how the current model of bolting a women's side onto an existing club is ever going to succeed.

Women's football in this country is a minority sport.

So we have a team, playing a minority sport which, by its very identity, automatically and irrevocably alienates 50% of its potential fanbase by dint of its affiliation to Sheffield United.

It's complete madness.

Surely the powers that be must have looked at the recent Hundred cricket tournament and realise that something similar is the way to go? A limited number of teams able to call on a wide catchment area of fans playing a high octane tournament embellished with additional spectacles and intelligent marketing.

The point you're making would work in the case of the team being called Sheffield FC, and being able to rely on the support of the whole of Sheffield. But I think the cricket Hundred analogy is a wrong one to choose. I love cricket, go to watch England and Yorkshire when I can. But the idea of supporting a team called the Northern Superchargers in Leeds has no identity for me. And Lancashire and Warwickshire relabelling themselves as Manchester and Birmingham effectively rules out cricket fans from Liverpool and West Bromwich/Coventry etc. So the Hundred wasn't pitched right for me....

If I had a daughter who wanted to go and watch them I'd be more than happy to taker her. Alas, I don't and I have no desire to go and watch women's football. The odd time I've had it on the t.v, it's slow and quite frankly, shit, the BBC and whoever else can try their hardest to force people into liking it but it's a very big ask.

The only way I can see more people watching women's football live is to stick it on before a Saturday/Sunday afternoon game and even then, I think the first team would have something to say about that given the preparation pitches get these days.

I hope they succeed and maybe one day I'll go, but right now, it's not for me. Some people will agree with me, some will see it as sexist. Either way, just do whatever you like, don't worry about other people.

Football has spent years evolving as a sport to test male athletes, and women elite athletes will not have the same physical attributes as their male counterparts, so the game won't be as interesting to watch.

I think if you made the pitches and goals smaller and made it 35 minutes each way, it would be a fantastic sport to watch, as the female player have incredible levels of skill just not the same physical strength and endurance.

I don’t necessarily disagree with some of the posts about the quality of the football. But is it any surprise that it doesn’t match the top men’s leagues if they don’t get the financial backing? Our women’s captain is also the manager of a care home for fucks sake. Our goalie has had a serious head injury and now has to wear one of those headbands to prevent it happening again. Some in men’s football could learn a lot from them and their desire to play.

Nobody is forcing you to go, but for a quid and a couple of hours it would be nice to go and get support them. And I bet the queues for pints will be a lot faster, so at least you can enjoy a shit lager whilst you’re there

United’s women’s team playing Liverpool Women’s at the Lane on Saturday 9th Oct as it’s the men’s international break. Tickets are £1, with the club seeking to beat our record women’s crowd. Let’s get behind them UTB

So, we decided to make this a family event with parents, grandparents and kids To give it support 7 in all. However, we only have 4 names in friends and family so can only order 4 tickets. Looks like if we all want to go I have to go down and buy tickets.

This club is becoming so hard to do business with 😡

Edit. I rang ticket office and to be fair lad handled it pretty well. Registered three new names up on the system and assigned tickets where we wanted them. AND I wasn’t charged the £1/ticket transaction fee so family day out for £7

I can't disagree with anything you said but still, even at £1, I just can't be arsed to watch women's football. If I lived within walking distance, was doing nothing at that time, I'd maybe consider it, maybe.

Just bought some tickets. Bit of a gamble with a 3 year old in tow but not really lost anything if we have to leave after 10 minutes at a pound each.

Certainly didn't feel like I was 'forced', more just taking advantage of a promotion in the same way 'Non-League Day' isn't forcing people to like the Evo-Stick Premier League. The womens game isn't the same standard as the mens game but nobody would pretend otherwise (it was effectively banned in this country for 50 odd years so has a way to go to catch up).

There is clearly an effort to promote the women's game in the media but it certainly doesn't put a dent in the saturation coverage of the Premier League or Champions League.

I don't think that the powers that be would agree to a game being played on the pitch prior to the men's team kicking off, afterwards I can't see it being an issue as there is time to prepare / repair before the next game plus then u would have the issue of people paying a £1 to watch a women's game and potentially staying in the ground to watch the men's game at 3pm because I know I'd try it when there would be 0 stewards around

Not necessarily pitches, but the goals for sure. The keepers in the women's game simply can't cover the same amount of ground, making it optimal to shoot on sight anywhere from about 35 yards out

Each to their own I suppose, but I find some the replies to this thoroughly depressing.

£1 for a Saturday afternoon at Bramall Lane supporting a side who are very much a part of your football club. Reyt offer. I'll be there.

Our fans don’t even turn up in any numbers for the EFL matches because they know many of the 1st team players won’t be playing
so they’re not likely to turn up to see other Sheff United teams (men or women) down the ladder.

Its like saying you’re feeling depressed that 10K plus don’t turn up to watch the reserves
or you think it’s depressing that why we don’t have 1000’s turning up to watch the Academy kids each week.
The womens game is very similar to under 16’s school boy football.
How many would watch a under 16’s school boys league match if it was £1, would guess very few, would that be depressing too?

Think it’s just a simple case of people support the main event (the senior men)…..the SUFC teams lower down the chain have spiritual support but very few will pay.
My grandson plays for the Junior Blades and there’s usually about 25 watching and that’s with free admission.

I don’t really get the argument that it’s somehow sexist to not want to watch women’s football. Several people I know make it (not necessarily on here).

The fact is it’s a different game, played in a different way to a different standard, so it’s perfectly acceptable not to enjoy it. It’s also your money and your time.

Not watching women’s football doesn’t make you sexist, in the same way that not going to Bramall Lane every week doesn’t mean you’re not a ‘real Blade’.

I will be honest here. When I see the women's team i think.......Yes, yes, yes, probably, yes, no, yes, no, no, yes, probably. I really have tried to change my attitude towards them but i just cant force myself to watch and like it, but there’s something very sexy about a Bladette.

I'm gonna take the daughter as she's been asking do women play. Might even drag the wife. Family day at the lane.

Also looking forward to a Vera's View from Roygbiv
