Its a real pity Wilder would not give him the deal he wanted and confined him to the kids. There was a big stand off and at one point I understand Ndiaye refused to play. Whilst we insisted on playing the favoured few we nearly lost this kid. Thank god a new manager has sorted it and does know potential. We spent £20m plus on Wilders thoughts. His quote was build for the future.

He managed his own alright didn’t he ? I don’t remember him once saying publicly we should sort this kid out either. ? Either way it’s good news now. ThankWas Wilder in charge of contracts? If he rated him as the most talented player in his squad (as per above post) then I'm sure he'd have pushed for him to get a better deal. Presumably Prince, JVW, Bettis etc. were the ones holding that one up?
What so annoying is the complete waste of money on players. I agree with you on kids and chances but I am lost on the money we have blown. Time to move on I gues and hopefully enjoy it !The stand off has gone on well into this season with the board. Guaranteed game time seems to have been the sticking point as well as a contract on first team money. A lot to ask for a kid; let's hope he proves himself worthy. We've seen this sort of thing with our other young gems. There seems to be an attitude at board level that they're young so they can't be as good. Daft if you ask me.

You mean the Board tell the 1st team manager which of the youth players he can select? The stand off has gone on well into this season with the board. There is an obvious follow up question your friend could have asked.Me and a mate went to the Cowens book launch thingy with all the Blades legends. My mate asked Chris Wilder who the most talented player at BL was. My mate went through the whole squad whilst CW laughed at him telling him he'd never guess it. At the end he told us. The answer: Ndiaye.

Longer than you might think him being 21 will probably preclude him from getting a top top move as I can’t recall the last time one of the big boys signed a player in their 20’s from the championship. In fact to have done enough to attract that kind of attention he’d need to have a very very impressive season this year and so would be 22 that’s a bit too old for them to sign him as a development player from the championship. If he has a stunning season and we still don’t go up then he’ll get middle of the pack interest villa, West Ham, palace type of teams. The big boys can wait to sign any prospective players in their mid 20’s from mid bracket prem teams after they’ve already proven themselves at that level. If it's been mentioned already I hope the reasons for repeating this is crystal clear. Early days I know, but we're all aware of how predatory professional football is, so, assuming what we witnessed yesterday becomes a standard we all enjoy, how long before the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, etc, etc come calling for Ndiaye?
I hope the Prince and the Board show a resolute attitude in allowing this boy to develop, and in the process help us to progress and return to the Premiership?
There are lessons to be learnt from the two seasons we spent in the Prem, so a more informed approach to recruitment seems essential, an example being that spending big, at least by the standards of SUFC, should make us aware that the recruitment of experience is preferable to speculative punts that might come good. For a club like ours to make any sort of impact on, and in, the Prem over several consecutive seasons requires experience, good luck, a collective approach to the buying and selling of players with savvy contractual know-how, and the ongoing investment on the infrastructure of the ground and training facilities.
As we've seen, once you're introduced to the actual financial numbers, it's a little more complex than simply imagining that the world's your oyster. Everything comes at a price, so purchasing a quality player brings with it a sizeable transfer fee, signing on fee, and whatever other inducements are required to seal the deal. All this without any other 'strokes' or imaginative uses of the limited financial resources that are meant to be used to benefit this club. I say all of this with one eye on those clubs who are 'ruled' by a very singular individual who will not countenance the views of others, especially if those views have the best interests of the club at heart.
Apologies for digressing, so back to the story at hand. We have a super gifted young player in Ndiaye whose potential will only improve if he receives intelligent coaching, management that is experienced and understands the ambitions of a talented youngster, making sure that his best position is quickly recognised, and ensuring that he has players around him with similar attributes who can compliment his talent.........not a lot to ask I know (smile), but how often do we discover young talent this good?
Not as good as Burke?I think we already know the answer.

Your point is noted. I suppose I was raising a cautionary possibility, which, if it doesn't happen, only bodes well for us. Somehow though my instincts suggest that he'll at least become a figure of interest to scouts everywhere. He's still young, and who knows how he'd respond if placed alongside established international players?Longer than you might think him being 21 will probably preclude him from getting a top top move as I can’t recall the last time one of the big boys signed a player in their 20’s from the championship. I think he’ll go into plenty of notebooks but the big boys tend to watch and wait for a while because they know they have the financial clout to buy players when they’re sure they’ll succeed 50-80 million is a normal fee for them now it’s the other prem clubs that move early and take the gamble on potentialYour point is noted. Whatever happens, we currently have an exciting young player. If we can maintain the balance of this side, albeit with a bit of tweaking here and there, then exactly how good they are is something I'm sure we'll all look forward to discovering.

He was the one who’d popped into my head but he’d had significantly more exposure that ndiaye by that point including a decent amount of prem appearances.Grealish nearly signed for spurs while in the championship
Everybody loves Baldock and I think Norwood improved as the game went on, but the changes you mention would in theory make us VERY exciting going forward. Imagine an on form Bogle combining with Ndiaye and MGW, and Berge finally having creative players to pass to - it could be so good.
We all know what’ll happen. Yeah that’s the sort of level I could see him going to if he has a great season and we don’t go up. reality (if he leaves): Southampton snap up Ndiaye
The rewards of going up could be even bigger this time around. Keeping academy gems and strengthening the academy, money to spend as we only did loans, training ground improved etc.Yeah that’s the sort of level I could see him going to if he has a great season and we don’t go up. Bogle has been desperately poor recently, I'm starting to think early last season was a flash in the pan. He's a long way behind Baldock currently, even given Baldock's weaknesses going forward.
He's stil very young (same age as Ndiaye) and had 2 strong seasons with Derby already at this level. As well as an excellent spell when he first joined our team in the PL.
Definitely not worth writing off, but he does need to switch on a bit more and learn how to defend.
Personally don't think he's a long way off Baldock at all. Baldock has had a long time to improve his play in the final third and made no progress. Great athlete, solid defender but offers nothing going forwards.
personally would prefer to see Berge deputise in the CAM position as he could be a beast there plus if MGW goes back in Jan, we have our replacement right here alreadyAs exciting as the potential in Berge is, he hasn't shown anything so far to demonstrate that he can impose himself anywhere in the midfield department.
The only position that can be improved is replacing Norwood however Berge has proven to lack aggression, lose possession under pressure and worst of all, hide during games. He would be a terrible choice for a defensive midfield role.

I wish mate, baldock hesitance to cross the ball was still there, its so annoying. Norwood out of possession, were basically playing with 10 menOlsen in for Foderingham.
B Davies in for Robinson (who I hope to never see again).
Berge in for Norwood.
I think those changes to today's XI would amount to our best team. Possibly Bogle in for Baldock too if we're really going to go for it.
...but with a back four and 4/5 in midfield he doesn’t need to go forward very often
