Paul Ifill vs Leicester?
He was a strange fish… scored a few goals and looked decent but kind of never felt like a United player. Hard to explain- maybe it’s just me but he never quite felt like part of the place. Warnock shipped him straight out now we went up so clearly something amiss. Strange player.

Not quite in the same ball park as some of those mentioned, but...

James Hanson had a cracking first game (and was decent enough after that tbf).

And what about Fabian Brandy? Looked the business in that Notts County win, but then again so did the whole team, shortly before McDonald scurried off to Wolves and the whole job lot turned to shite.

Matt Phillips got 2 vs. Preston away - think that was his debut?

When was this and why so special?

Bit more context -
Wendy were towards the top of Division 1 at the time, we were struggling. But we'd beaten them at the Lane earlier in the season, so this was for the double. We got Davidson in on a loan from Leeds. Think I'm right in saying not many people knew much about him. He had a great game and of course scored two goals.

Tony Currie's scoring debut against Spurs will always take some beating , but I thought that Ndiaye came pretty close !

Captain Blade a few years ago in the mascots race, deliberately tripping up an over inflated big headed Owl👍😁

Chris Guthrie hat trick v Halifax. Downhill from that point
Guthrie’s debut was 1st game of season (& opening of South Stand)
Drew 1-1 a piece v Derby ( previous season’s champions) & he ran Roy McFarland ( at the time 1st pick England c/h) ragged
The Hafilax hat trick (all headers ?) was League Cup later in season

Mates da’ used to have a cross eyed ( visually challenged?) cockerel called Guthrie - go figure 😉

I don't remember him doing anything particularly memorable, but I remember everyone raving about Jon Harley after his first loan stint debut. Still one of my favourite Blades.

Sadly I can only give you one 'like'.

A wonderful night. It pissed it down all evening but I have never been happier.

"Bobby, Bobby, Bobby, Davison!"
