If they have hoodwinked SJ, and are paying him (a rumoured) 2m a year, then they have hoodwinked themselves. Because without reinforcements, that is going to be several millions more down the drain.

Not sure if you've picked up on some hostility that's passed me by but I don't think Alco is being aggressive.
I think one of them leaving was always expected, and probably needed but the money to do the loan was and is there. The requirement for £40M didn't sound ridiculous at the time. Where I would say my position has changed is I think they're finding it more difficult to get the players and clubs either interested in joining us or releasing them, but I believe the money isn't the issue.
Elliott is staying at Liverpool, so I would think we've moved on. I still maintain that the reason it's gone on so late is the calibre of player we're looking at, if we only land standard or average premier league kids then there will be questions to ask around that approach.

Maybe so , but surely he'll allow at least some of the £24m to be invested in a promotion push ? It's almost last-chance saloon for a PL return - we know it normally takes us 12 years.
