I rekon SUFC might actually profit from a transfer window. I don´t mean just financially, but with plyers too. This is just my opinion ofcourse, but all of the players who have moved on, or are looking to move on, are not even our better players! If we can somehow get Monty, Hendo, Evans, Quinn (agreed, good on his day), and the rest of "the blackwell shite", we might be in for a good transfer window here.

For years, we have needed these players off our ever increasing wagebill, so maybe relegation will be a blessing in disguise! Keep the faith!

In Wilson we trust......

That would be the "Blackwell shite" that got us one game away from the PL in 2009 then...

I recall doing a poll around March time suggesting that relegation could be a blessing in disguise and the clean sweep we needed and around 85% disagreed ! Time will tell :)

Nope, I still disagree.

:)

I'll grant you it may take us 1, 2, 3 years to get back to the position we were in league wise but if we return in better shape then it will have been for the good of the club long term. If we'd stayed up, I honestly couldn't have seen anything but a struggle and we could have been in the same bad position (if not worse) next May.

Let's re-open this debate next Summer ;)

So when do you think we might start bringing some decent players in? Or will it be the usual .....sell a few of our better players....don't replace them.....and then make panic loan signings when we are in the shite?

Do you remember that 'one game' though?? we were nowhere near good enough that day

True, but he got us there and also within 1 game of automatic promotion, which is better than all of our other managers (except Warnock) over the last 17 years.

I don't think that will happen until McCabe leaves. I think McCabe clearly thinks the club owes him one financially (despite most of the major loses being a direct result of his poor stewardship). He'll continue to flog everything that he can put a price tag on until he's bled us dry

The best we can hope for is that we have another obscenely rich fan who fancies throwing a large chunk of his money McCabe's way.

Lets not forget we were injury ridden on that day.
Hendo out ,Halford playing through injury that he picked up in the playoffs and would not have played if it wasn't the final.
We had no decent strikers to field all our hopes were resting on BT 2 who couldn't win a header if his life depended on it never mind score.

But why did'nt he play Billy Sharp? We could of won that day, (if Like Warnock did at wembley also) fall out with players who could win the game for us!

Because Billy Sharp never did it for us. Why would it have been any different at Wembley?

The decline started after the final whistle that day Mccabe should have accepted Blackies resignation but instead he kept him on and started stripping the assets

I remember a few posts suggesting this when we were relegated from the PL...look what happened there!

There's also a chance that in May we could be in just as bad a position, but a division lower than last May.

I agree but Beattie never did and never will, but blackleg played him.

And I also agree Blackleg should of gone after that game, ken bates had got rid of him when he made a bollox of le ds play off final (the only thing blackleg did rate) so we were in with no chance that day.
