Just got back from the match so it won't be a long reply and points may get missed.
I agree regarding fleck, although tonight fleck did seem to have some tenacity in there (finally).

Brunt tonight played the 'Norwood role' but seemed to do it better than the man himself. Spread play well, put in a couple of good corners, but more importantly for me, put in some good challenges.
He's young, made a couple of bad decisions, but was by no means worse than what Norwood offers at all. Instead of just pointing, I could actually hear him from the stand being vocal with the other players, telling them where they should be.

We seemed a lot more progressive tonight without him in there. There was multiple times that brunt received the ball from the centre backs and either played it first time in front of a team mate or received the ball on the half turn and distributed it straight away. Good signs.

The pathetic part I was referring to was how we've left it for so long when it's clear for all to see what we need, only to then opt for a SJ suggestion who's only ever going to be a very short term solution. The planning by the club has been atrociously handled from the minute CW finally left.
We need creativity. We need wingers. We need a break away from the boring flat 3 midfield.

I'd much rather try with brunt in there rather than AG, but whatever happens, I think the Norwood/fleck days are numbered because it limits us too much offensively.
I hope to feck you're right about us getting Fleck & Norwood out of the first team , if not our of the squad.
File them under "good memories".

Good to hear, sounds like Brunt progressing well. How was Freeman? I couldn’t go tonight, being London based, midweek games are a real struggle.

Not to dismiss Brunt if he’s had a good game but if John rather than Jimmy turned up tonight against a poor side and we had Freeman in there with a bit of creativity, that means more options to hit from midfield. I think Norwood may have done the same but hypothetical.

I think you’re spot on with all of that re club, and limited days for the midfield who have done so well for us in the past. Shake up needed, not a chance we’ve left ourselves with enough time to get the right bodies in.

Some questions for the prince and his team to answer especially his words on transfers and the policy going forwards. They seem to have it their way now and running not as it was with Wilder but recruitment is non existent… massive few days coming up.

On Freeman…

He played well overall and was probably one of the better players. If his decision making had been better in the final 3rd though we could’ve had at least a couple more goals. He consistently either held onto the ball for too long, chose the wrong pass (He really didn’t seem to want to pass to Ndiaye) or he chose to shoot when a pass was the better option. Hopefully that comes together with more game time though. (Sounds like I’m saying he had a poor game but I’m not)

On Fleck…I thought he completely changed us when he came on. Kept possession well but got us going forward with it. Interestingly he was sitting deep and did really well with it. It might be a good idea to see how he’d do alongside Berge with Freeman playing just in front of them.

I was advocating for that from day one in the Premier League. My argument was we were promoted with the 2nd best defensive record in the Championship. We weren’t Norwich, we didn’t need to throw the principles of our way of playing out the window to make us more solid. We didn’t need the flat 3 and removing the 10, removed a vital cog of what made the overloads so hard to defend against (a floating Duffy provided a plan B). I honestly think that’s when the rot set in.
Totally agree. Worst case scenario, with Lundstram deciding he wanted out and not performing, I don't get what stopped us saying "fair enough, revert to plan A".

Having gained a foothold in the division, being a bit more on the front foot is what the next evolution is. Nobody ks suggesting you go hell for leather vs Man City but dropping 6 points to the likes of Palace having taken 6 from them the precious year was pretty galling.

Agree with all that ASoB - CW obviously felt that playing a flat mid 3 would make the team more solid, which it did in season 1. However, it also isolated the front 2 and limited both the creativity and scoring threat from midfield, especially last season. The lack of options to revert to plan B (which seemed to be limited to McGoldrick dropping deeper to become the point of a diamond) and only being deployed once Utd had fallen behind and were chasing games, killed them

Maybe he’s just keeping fit with us weird we haven’t signed him yet if that’s the intention he’s been here a week

Has anyone talked about him as a footballer yet?
Seen loads about his age and his clubs... but is he any good?

I'm still trying to work out what HR is ,I come from a self employed contracting background 🤔☺️
Just look in a mirror and tell yourself you need to go on a course to improve the deficient aspects of your understanding of the issue….sorted

One of our biggest problems is a lack of mobility in the middle of the park. We were looking at Ronaldo Vieira to resolve this... now that ones failed, a 35 year old that's been on the beach for 2 years.

Its scattergun. Its terrible. We're doomed.

Ronaldo Vieira, wow that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Seems months ago since last week

Norwood plays at the base of the midfield and although he has good passing range, he isn't the strongest defensively...although he does win tackles and interceptions etc. Guedioura is much better than Norwood defensively, but he isn't as good at unlocking a defence from deep as Norwood is. Another added bonus for playing Guedioura over Norwood is his ball carrying ability, 2.19 successful dribbles p90 compared to Norwoods 0.22 successful dribbles p90.

I have a little concept in mind as to why Slav is signing Guedioura...
Can he run for 90 minutes?

Guessing we're having a look at him fitness wise and maybe if we don't bring in other options he'll be signed, or maybe he's coming either way as long as he proves his fitness. It can't be isolation purposes as he's trying with us obviously.
