Just watched a highlight reel of this guy. He kept doing this thing where he slid on the ground towards an opponent with the ball, touched the ball, then got up and kept the ball, usually leaving the opponent on the floor. He'd also kick the ball really hard from outside the area towards the goal. It didn't always go in the goal but he tried.

I'm pretty sure I saw our players do similar things a few years back, brought back some good memories.

Fleck v Coventry at home in League One springs to mind and Fleck v Burnley in Prem I think was just outside the box. Both yonks ago. But there must be a more recent one.

I doubt that we’ll be challenging the top 6. I‘d be happy if we stayed out of the bottom 6

Because people like to ignore the like of McCall and Speed and focus on the likes of Hammond so when we bring in some towards the end of their career its an automatic stick to bash with

I don't want to criticise the fella as he could turn out to be a saviour, but this to me highlights the ambition of the board, when we are looking to sign 35 year olds

I appreciate that this deal may well be at SJ's request, but then perhaps he has no choice due to available funds and having his hands tied behind his back.

But it is worrying that thus far that it seems very much like we are looking at sticking plaster signings.

The common denominator with Speed, McCall, Cowens etc is they had successful careers at higher levels. As a consequence, whilst their physical attributes diminished, their ability still saw them competitive at the level below. Has Guerdiora ever done anything at PL level? Or indeed anything remarkable at Championship level? If his physical attributes have dropped off a cliff, as Forest fans reported, then why would he still be productive as a Championship player?

Loan signings can be good for teams who are looking to get promoted. That way you don't have a swollen squad of champ level players and can go hard and heavy on perm signings once go up

SJ needs players who he can trust. Aside from one or two (Egan, Baldock and Norwood to an extent) I don’t think he trusts any of this lot…which is fair.

Could be a good signing in that respect. As others have said he knows SJ methods wel, knows the systems and roles. Never gonna solve our midfield problems on his own but could be useful in the above sense.
