If we were watching as a neutral last night you'd suggest it was two teams fighting for the drop.

I'm amazed people thought a squad of players that has been shit for around 18 months would suddenly turn good just cos their gaffer has changed?

I said all along we could face a double drop. Our team is shit.

Wilder managed to fluke a great tactic which worked. Once teams sussed it, that was it.

For the first 20 minutes ladt night all our forward players looked like Callum Robinson out of possession. Unsure where to be, pointing at each other etc.

He's asking for tactical versatility out of a group who've not had to show any for half a decade. As it stands it looks like he needs to pare down his requirements and work on basics.

On last nights evidence it looks like whatever system, formation is played during the week, the minute a game kicks off, it's headless chickens, inside the first 5 minutes Slav was chatting with Chema, that doesn't happen when a plan is being implemented it looked like a what are they doing conversation, confidence or the lack of it, is a big factor

Our squad peaked in the first half of return to the Premier league, 2020 saw a steady decline not helped by the first lock down. Last season despite some additions we never got going at all. What we are left with is players not good enough or the wrong side of 30yr old and declining, a few misfits and a scattering of young lads with next to no experience in men's football.
I think in the two games so far it is clear we will be very fortunate to even make the play off's this season, half of this team need culling and the average age has to drop significantly, hopefully one or two of our young lads can step up and save us transfer fee's. Slav has got a huge job on his hands I'm not sure he knew what he was letting himself in for when he took the job.

He's kept Ramsdale and Berge, which means loans, loans take the piss time wise if you want anyone decent. Plus the added hurdle of covid and quarantine.

There is little point in going for promotion until you have a squad capable of surviving in the Premiership. If that takes two seasons then so be it. I would rather see steady progression than a rush up before we are ready.
If this and the next transfer window produces 6 to 8 better players and we go up this season then great.

There is little point in going for promotion until you have a squad capable of surviving in the Premiership. If that takes two seasons then so be it. I would rather see steady progression than a rush up before we are ready.
If this and the next transfer window produces 6 to 8 better players and we go up this season then great.

Everything seems to be going for Brentford, reality might hit, if or when they pick up a couple of injuries. Norwich seem to be proving once again, a team that works in the Championship struggles in the PL, yes they played Liverpool, but the defending was ball watching/Rabbit in the headlights at times. Watford are Watford, they might survive but just fir one season

Judge the manager at three stages.
First at the end of this month to see who has come in. Second at the end of October when the squad should be playing as he wants and finally at the end of the season.
Anything earlier than those is just unrealistic.

Agree with Burke but Robinson was ok last night and got some good blocks and tackles in.

Bash, was Bash, he proved he can play in a 4 or 3, Norwood dropped deep once to ping a pass to Osborn, along with Berge, they were outnumbered/bullied, whatever the plan was to support the midfield 2, full backs pushing up or attackers dropping off, never worked. Lots of negatives and few positives, Mcburnie set up the best chance of the game, and provided a bit of aggression, subs made too late and if Freeman couldn't get on last night, he never will, playing Brewster left wing/right wing and subbing him, while leaving Didsy on the pitch, will have done sod all for his confidence

If the reports re Lowe to Swansea are true, it highlights that everyone is skint, yes Swansea are waking up to life without parachute payments, and on a cost cutting exercise, but so is 99% of the Championship
