Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale looks to be heading to north London as Arsenal are in advanced talks to purchase the 23-year-old, according to Football London’s
The 23-year-old was left out of the Blades squad against Carlisle United in the Carabao Cup last night and now it appears that a deal is close to being sealed for his services.
Arsenal have already had two bids rejected for Ramsdale this summer, but an improved off of an initial £24 million, rising to £30 million with add-ons and that is what Arsenal are expected to pay.

This is simple sell Ramsdale and Berge and get 40M if we are lucky (remember the sell on clauses though) and
NO PROMOTION

Keep Ramsdale and Berge and add a couple more we will
GET PROMOTED AND £160M

it ain’t rocket science is it

That's all well and good, but what happens if we go with option 2 but don't get promoted?

Personally I want us to cut our cloth accordingly, and don't leave ourselves with a giant problem if all doesn't go to plan.

Arsenal are understood to be closing in on the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in a deal worth around £24million, according to reports.

Former Arsenal loanee Mathew Ryan has claimed that the Gunners are looking to bring in a home-grown goalkeeper this summer.
However, Ryan eventually signed for Spanish outfit Real Sociedad, admitting that he was keen on returning to Mikel Arteta's side before it was made clear to him that the club were instead searching for a goalkeeper to help fulfil the homegrown quota.

Johnstone is older and would be less of an attractive investment.
He’s 28? Lukaku is currently going for 100m at the same age. I get your point but Ramsdale was so hot and cold last season, two years ago he wasn’t playing premiership football. He’s been relegated twice.

I genuinely feel he’s going there as second choice.

Our defence is more of a problem than who's in the net for me. We've been kicking the can down the road re: JOC for ages. Putting plasters over an arterial bleed with Stevens, Robinson, and Bryan at LCB, even Henderson took a hit when JOC got crocked.

If we need to get some money in to sort the gaping holes in our squad then as sad as I would be to see him go, Ramsdale is the one to cash in while his value is high because he'll not be in the England squad again once Henderson and Pope are available with Pickford.

It's not small time, it's sensible business. If you don't want to have to sell some players, don't get relegated.

Has Arteta been smoking home grown and forgot about their academy?

You should never gamble on promotion, especially since we're talking about the Championship the most unpredictable league in Europe.

However, we should try option 3 where we sell our not essential players like Norwood, Mousset, McBurnie and try to keep Berge and add some solid talents.

He is to be their second choice keeper this season and their first choice one the season after.

I agree 100% but what are those 3 worth? And would they leave us cash in the bank to strengthen? We’d get them off the wage list which would be the most beneficial thing but I don’t think we’d get anywhere near £5m-£10m for any of them. Huge loss of Moose/ Mcburnie

If we can get that money for him, it's a right result.

Are they alright at Arsenal? Stupidly let Willock go, getting fleeced for Ramsdale and Abraham as well.

As sad is it is to see a great lad and future England keeper go ,in the grand scheme of things it's makes sense on every level .hopefully a needed freshening up of the squad .utb

First decent offer grab it. He shows potential and that's all really. Had an absolute shocker last season admittedly he came good near the end but that's what we paid 18 million for. Still think over all he's an average keeper and nothing to get excited about.
He didn’t look comfortable at all on Saturday. We looked so vulnerable from crosses which isn’t just his fault when playing in that back 4 but I would 100% cash in on him while his stock is high.

No team wants to lose their big names, but we’ve experienced it enough over the years. McCabe would have had him gone following Arsenals first bid

Ultimately, keeping or selling him now is a gamble, but the latter is definitely the safer route and quite understandable. I don't think this will mean that we necessarily keep Berge either; which I think will sadly cost us more in the future.

Anyway, assuming it goes ahead, good luck Rammers. And let's get that squad improved as a result of him going plz.
