Despite what some of our gobbier members have said, it's very clear that Vieira hasn't signed yet.

Whether he will or not I've no idea. I am, as ever, proudly NITK.
 
He will replace fleck in my opinion. I speak for most people when i say none of us want that but slav trust norwood and to be fair, i feel we all slate norwood unfairly now. Last night for example, norwood did nothing wrong. He did his job which was to pick up the ball from the defence and distribute it. Fleck in my opinion went missing and has done for the past year or so with the odd good game. It hurts for me to say this as I believe fleck is a top 10 player ever for us but he needs to pull his finger out. All well and good having a go at norwood but at the end of the day, his job is a boring one to the spectator and he does it well

Is it also his job to be terrible at set pieces and try overly complicated passes often giving the ball away cheaply? If so, he has excelled at that for 18 months and was particularly good at the former last night. 95% of his corners dont beat the first man and the remaining 5% go straight to the keeper. His best days are behind him sadly.

I agree with the set pieces but I don’t think he can win. If he plays it simple every time we moan that we aren’t trying to get it forward. If he trys a tricky pass we moan. I just think the level of criticism he gets compared to fleck is unwarranted

While I agree that Norwood did nothing wrong last night (and actually played pretty well) I feel that with him in the team it makes the rest of our midfield almost defunct. His first reaction is either pass backwards or to go for the Hollywood pass therefore bypassing the midfield. While this is a good tactic every now and again when it occurs as often as it does with Norwood it becomes obvious and easier to counter. It also makes it harder for Berge to have a big influence on the game.
Someone like Vieira would be a better foil for Berge. Picking the ball up from defence or breaking up play and playing the simple pass would allow Sander to make more of his abilities, primarily breaking forward from deep and getting us on the front foot quicker.
don’t get me wrong I think Norwood will have a part to play this season but I can’t help but feel that Vieira will be better for the way Slav wants us to play

I don’t disagree at all, I think you’re spot on. I just really dislike how as a fan base we have decide to target norwood for every wrong doing and not mention fleck as he’s one of the best players we’ve ever had. Same with sharp last night. I was seeing people tear into brewster but sharp came on and did even less but no one will mention it as he’s one of our own. I love sharp and fleck i just feel the criticism is always at the same people

Fleck was far worse than Norwood last night I think it’s the worst game I’ve ever seen him have for us.
 
Could make a case for either of Norwood or Fleck to be dropped, their level of performance over the last 18 months is so poor that neither could complain about being replaced.

I hope we can get Vieira and Garner over the line and get both out the XI, at least until they can show some of what they have previously.

I think it was probably to get berge away from Gardner because he was man marking and fouling him out of the game.

Both will be 30 as of this month. Both past their best. Fleck routinely turns up back from a break lacking match fitness. Norwood points a lot. Get shut of the pair of them. They are not the present or the future.

We need an overhaul. there are a number of players who have been here for too long and both club and player would benefit from a fresh start.

While I agree they were poor last night, and have been for a good long while now, do you honestly think bombing off two players who have been very key to this squad, probably not recouping much value for the reasons you mention, in two key positions, who are both currently starting, to then hunt desperately for a couple of players to come in before the window closes and likely start straight away in a side hinting promotion, is a good idea?

It's not my fault if people down at the Lane can't see the obvious with both of them. We should have brought in two replacements already. I agree, it's unlikely that we'll sell either now but they should both be back-ups at the very most.

I don't really understand what we're doing with recruitment. We seem to have started very late. Sure, Slav needs to look at them but there were already gaps which we needed to fill regardless. There should have been a list on his desk in July.
 
Can't remember the last time we signed someone where I wasn't totally fed up of the whole fucking saga at least a week before they even turned up to so the shirty video

This guy isn't even fit yet and has Injury problems and I don't remember him being that great anyway ,so our first signing in this new era is probably the most underwhelmed I've been since the days of clough

I have hope it’s not the end of the road for them and they can still offer quality at this level but with each passing game it gets less and less likely. They need to put in a performance or two or it’s like starting with 10 men .

we have to plan to bring other in to freshen things up or it’ll be too late.

I think what they need is proper competition. It's something they haven't really had during and since they were in their pomp.

Berge was competition for Lundstram, not Norwood, whilst Osborn has been used as a bits & pieces player rather than a replacement for Fleck, with poor old Freeman getting binned out early on. Ironically he was the one who looked like he would properly challenge Fleck as well.

Viera and a proper box to box player coming in might make them get their arses into gear, and if they still don't then it's definitely time to try and move them on.
 
berge will be sold norwood and fleck have had their time here so for me a completely new midfield is needed throw in a centre back winger and daft as it sounds a striker and thats the minimum requirement for me birmingham were very ordinary and for me are a mid table side at best they should have been comfortably dispatched last night

If you’re ronaldo vieira surely you’re not standing for that. I had backed the owner a lot more after his interview in regards to wilder and the future of the club but he’s pissing me off now. Fulham who have one year less of parachute payments then us are spending £20m and we can’t afford loans despite signing no one in January? Get to fuck

But Slav did not always play Norwood and often used him as a sub when things were not going as planned Don't assume he won't do the same here
