Anyway, we’ve now started what we intend to be a semi-regular series called The Rock n Goal Years (any similarity with something ITV used to do is purely coincidental)

At the request of Swannyblade, the first season we are looking at is 1991-92. The first part is available now, and the second will be out later this week.

Let us know what you reckon. Not about our 13-year-old music tastes though. We can’t do anything about that now

Not for me pal. I'll do my own talking bollocks with my own mates before and after the game. Why would anybody want to listen to somebody else's conversation - which is basically all a podcast like this is 🤔 It would be like a total stranger pulling a seat up to your table in the pub and sitting there, nibbits in hand, earwigging at what everybody has to say. You'd just tell him to fuck off 😝

As for away games, well if your prematch experience is "predictions, waffle and weather reports" thank fuck I'm not part of your group!

No offence meant btw, each to their own, I just don't get why everybody these days wants to be a pseudo celeb..... why can't peeps just go to the games, have a few beers and take the piss amongst their mates, without feeling the need to share it with the whole world?

bit strong that mate.

Not at all. I'm not name calling or slagging anybody off. These podcasts are advertised on an open forum, therefore I'm giving my opinion as a forum member. It's a No from me, Simon.

Wow, you sound like a real winner, we’re all gagging to be one of your mates after that fascinating take. I can tell how cool you are because you say it like it is.

There’s a handful of podcasts out of an entire fanbase, some people like to share things. I’m away from Sheffield so don’t get to hear too many clips of proper unitedites talking about the team (football heaven has too many morons).

Tufty clubs a really good podcast, they have a good laugh and whilst it’s very chill overall, deadbat in particular really knows his stuff.

Based on that tripe you’ve come out with you’re certainly more obnoxious and cringe worthy than any pseudo celeb.

In fairness, he’s done this same rant before, around the same time of year actually. Must be the weather.

Anyway, I can’t be bothered to respond again, my original replies still stand:

Nah, all about opinions innit? I can think of loads of reasons why people may not get on with the content (though Deadbat negativity aside, hopefully there’s more reasons they’d like it), plus I seem to remember he’s against podcasts in general.

In fairness, both me and Andy from Tufty Club have never really listened to podcasts either... which a) exasperates DB every time he makes yet another reference to some stuff we’ve never heard, and b) makes it even weirder that Andy roped us into doing one in the first place.

Wow, what an honour - a podcast by request! Feel like this should be some sort of top tier Patreon shizzle.

As for Snake's comment, each to their own but as someone who's been working from home for over a year, this (and other) podcasts have been a really welcome and entertaining distraction. I'll continue to listen post lockdowns as the output is entertaining and it's nice to hear informal Blades related chat that goes off at tangents into other areas of pop culture. I'm not as sociable as Snake and the majority of my mates couldn't give a toss about football/Blades so it fills a void nicely.

(It is weird though that someone is criticising people on a public forum for sharing their views in public...why didn't he just mention it to his mates and move on?)

This is a post that is clearly advertising what we do/have done. You have indicated in other responses before is 'not for you' which is fine of course. Of course I get some people like podcasts, some don't and some people may enjoy, some won't different ones too.

What I don't get is the fact you have taken time (again) to tell us why it's not for you? Which you have done before? Why click on the post and why write a response? I get it is a forum and thus people share views of course. I don't understand though why you would waste your time telling us it is a waste of time 🤣

As for the not wanting to talk to strangers or listen to other chats etc..I've had some great chats with rival fans/Blades fans in pubs/trains/matches before...I'm not necessarily going to be their best mates or ever see again but that's what Football does...you often talk to people you never would. It's kind of different to real life where I agree you might not do that. However having the attitude I've got my friends and who I know is a bit.... don't come into my village/circle of mates ('League of Gentleman!')

As I say I get podcasts aren't for everyone but it's just an odd way of quantifying why you would not listen rather than just these guys are twats and annoying (more accurate!).

You are happy to come on a forum and converse with complete strangers and read others views? So it's just oral conversations rather than written ones you're not a fan of? 🤔 That's fine of course I suppose.

Anyway for those who listen...if you are fans of Right Said Fred, Mike Lake and Fresh Prince of Bel Air...this is the content you have waited all your life for.

As a fellow pseudo celeb I'm looking forward to this. We recorded our one hit wonders at totp on the Madeley pod yesterday so will be interesting to see if your tastes are as bad as ours.

Looking forward to rhe Madeley one hits special.

Our pod basically describes what great music that was around that we missed and had to go back to 20-30 years after to realise and appreciate. Oh and John Gannon never using his right foot.

Im delighted I've been called a pseudo celebrity. Might change my twitter bio.

Deadbat_DB - 'Pseudo celebrity Blade whose views are mostly negative but at least his own'

I'll be listening at work tomorrow. Last time I listened to you at work some kid came up to me and said "what the fuck are you listening to?".

You listen to us in such a way that it can be overheard? Madness

😂 I suppose if he’s going to bang out the same message, you might as well too.

Makes you sound like you're also a pseudo Blade.

Given some of you opinions at times that probably isn't far off 🤣

Am I a pseudo-celeb or a pseudo-celeb’s sidekick? Need to know as I’m just updating my LinkedIn

Good evening, pseudo-celebrity fans. You’ll be pleased to learn that part two of The Tufty Club Rock n Goal Years 1991-92 is now available in all the usual places (including the tweet above), and it features all the usual mix of bullshit and nonsense that makes you glad we’re not part of your group.

Hope it brings back some good memories… and if anyone has any requests for other seasons to cover (or other specials for the next international break of global pandemic), give us a shout.

Unfortunately I have not been able to listen to more than half of episode one as after a month of silence half of the people in my podcast rotation have released lengthy podcasts this week, but I would like to say here that:

1. Enjoying it generally
2. I could not disagree with you more in your recollection of Vinnie Jones' talents as a footballer. 700 grand for a long throw and someone who never actually lived up to his reputation. Passed sideways, didn't tackle as much as you'd expect, not quick... There was a lot of James Harper style standing around and clapping. The team was liberated without him: we won all 4 games he missed the season before.

I thought he played to his own self-imposed limitations and what the manager presumably wanted. There was definitely a better player in there, he just wanted to concentrate on the hard man side. Or maybe my 2unlimited-addled teenage mind was being too optimistic.

Enjoyed part one and looking forward to listening to the second one. Anything that has the Big Match theme and CBS Fox football music is on to a winner!

I think many of us of a similar age will have watched those season reviews hundreds of times. The CBS Fox one was great - and if I watched it now I'm pretty sure the commentary would reawaken in some dark recess of my mind... #bringbackseasonreviews

Do they not do season reviews anymore? Maybe we will start doing them instead; a completion of all the clips with Deadbat and me doing appalling impressions of Bentley and Clark over the top.

Enjoyed that, thanks chaps. Nice to hear about a successful season that was just a little bit before my time.

And for the record, I opened out the Pearl Jam Ten album cover, stuck it up on my wall and grew to regret the decision. Pearl also had a habit of releasing albums with card CD sleeves that didn't fit in my CD rack in a satisfying manner, so it was the start of an uneasy relationship.

Yeah, wasn’t Vitalogy one of the first Digipack CDs? Or some sort of weird box? I remember thinking they were showboating special packaging wankers in any case.

Vitalogy was made to look like an old leather bound book and is one of the problematic Pearl Jam sleeves. I only think it's forgivable to be packaging wankers when you make a loss like New Order did with Blue Monday. Only bigger crime is when the writing on the spine is upside down.

They don't. I think they are quite expensive to pull together now - there were calls for the club to do the two promotion season ones, but the costs didn't work. Last one I had was the Warnock promotion season DVD.

Right. You have almost a year to brace yourselves for “The Tufty Club (assuming that’s what we’re still called) 2021/22 season review”

No plans to change the name or you staying with Tufty Club?

Plans? PLANS?! Have you ever listened to us? One to discuss in tonight tomorrow night’s pod I guess. But I think laziness under the guise of a tribute might just win out.

I knew it was mooted back end of last season. Then again I was all for Blessin’s Blades back then too…
