Just been watching Barca and Man U play and wanted to comment on how awful I thought it was watching Barcelona ping the ball around like that. All that ticky tacky stuff gets right on my tits. Those Catalans and all their tippy tappy nonsense. Was nice to see Man U get some hoofs in there. I'll not sleep tonight watching all that shocking passing and moving. The way they are so comfortable on the ball, never misplace a pass and pass quickly less than ten yards. All that movement made me dizzy. And that flair and creativity made me feel physically sick.

I hope Piggy Dingle Wilson does not try and get us playing like that. We are Sheffield United. A tough, direct team. I for one will not be going to watch the Blades if Danny Wilson tries to get us playing anything like Barca. I can only hope that Dave Basset excerts his influence or that the leftovers of hoofy Adams and Blackwell stick to the direct stuff. I for one want to see us hoofing the ball up to Henderson from August onwards.

We are United. A long ball team. If Wilson gets any ideas otherwise I shall be rounding up all the numpties and heading down to the car park to protest. Geez. I am off for a walk .....

What yer on abart olle?! Ger it banged up front! :D

If we can even achieve a small percentage of what I saw tonight I will be delirious. Possibly the greatest football team I have ever seen. Masters of the art of real football.

and cheating.

I thought the same.

are you retarded or on the wind up? Plenty of teams ( English included ) are known for taking a tumble when it suits them. In fact Man U are masters at it. Only 1 set of cheats tonight, how mant fouls did Valencia commit?

Yes they do, but Barca are the worst for it. They put Italian teams to shame for theatrics.

And how many of Valencia's fouls were actual fouls? Some were just cases of him being stronger.

2 Or 3 of them were poor challenges. Barca make the most of some challenges like most teams do. At least you don't see any of Barca's stars blatantly elbowing players in the head for no reason or shagging granny hookers or going to ridiculous lengths to cover up extra marital affairs. The footballing team won, the scummy team full of cunts with no morals didn't

I take it you didn't see the semi final first leg against Madrid? It was one of the most pathetic and ridiculous displays of cheating and theatrics I have ever seen. It eventually culminated in the wrongful sending off of Pepe for a nothing challenge which destroyed the tie as a contest and gifted Barcelona a passage through to the final.

If they're so good why do they have to cheat?

I can't like Barca however much I try. I can't detract from their achievements but there's something stopping them ever truly endearing themselves to me

They wouldn't last ten minutes in League One, Ollie.

Absolutely SCB. We are privileged to live in the same era. They are football's answer to Beethoven, Da Vinci, Shakespeare and Cleopatra. Certainly the best club team of all time. I still put them a whisker behind the peerless Brazil '70.

I can understand someone being proud of themselves for composing a post like this but is there any need to be so graphic? :hello:

Many of the 50,000 Man United fans at Wembley probably came to admire Barcelona's gilded youngsters

Isn't this in the wrong section? Shouldn't it be in the 'Look At Me' section or at the very least 'Other Football and Sport'..?

Quite right. This is a Sheffield United forum. We'll have no talk of your namby-pamby, fancy football on here.

Kick it hard; Kick it long; Kick it high.

Who needs Mr. Messi: We've got Mr. Messy.

We  Hoofing.

same, for some reason i really wanted barcelona to lose, i actually felt pretty gutted when man u lost, doesn't happen often, lol

Barcelona were light years ahead of man Utd, despite the diving and timewasting. They fully deserved their victory. The man Utd players barely had chance to breathe on the ball, such was the speed in which Barcelona pressed and harried. Barcelona had no problems passing to a player that had an opponent within a yard of them, because the barca players have brilliant ball control. Man utd never had the same confidence, and resorted to many more speculative balls.

A central midfield pairing of Giggs and Carrick was a big mistake for me, neither of them pressed xavi or ineista, and allowing messi ten yards of space on the edge of the Box was criminal, even if van Der sar should have done better with their second. Man Utd needed a monty in there tonight, Just a shame for them Fletcher wasn't deemed fit enough to make the starting 11.

I would have expected scholes to start in centre mid instead of giggs. he can actually keep possession and slow down play and create space in midfield like how xavi does, to deal with barcelona's pressing. whenever he's on the pitch man united will always pass to him because 99/100 times he will make the right decision.

instead, man united lost the ball as soon as they won it and never felt comfortable with it. shame he came on when they were already destined to lose being 2 goals down

Can we have a new section please? One for teams that have been well and truly shat on by superior opposition?

Er, hang on.......

On the subject of 'good' football, was it during Danny Wilson"s reign as Barnsley manager that Brazilian crowds used to chant "It's just like watching Barnsley"?

It's funny you should mention that side. I was making comparisons between the two last night. Brazil '70 is the only outfit in history that could really rival this Barcelona team for possession football. I'm far too young to have seen that team live but growing up I watched back all of their games from that world cup, in fact I've got the DVD now! I never thought I would see a team close to that ever again but.....enter Barcelona!

I agree with the point some make about theatrics, they're shocking for it but thats the modern game. I hate seeing it and wish something would be done about it but Barcelona aren't the only culprits!

Nah mate, read the second paragraph. It's very much about United.

Indeed broomhill. Awful period that was. I was living is Sheffield and had a season ticket at the time. I remember Barnsley's promotion season and some numpty commentator saying 'it's like watching Brazil'. They did the double over us that year (deservedly). I remember a wretched night game at Oakwell where they completely outclassed us from start to finish. There was a sea of gold in the stand and all we hear all fucking night was 'stand up if you hate Sheffield' and 'it's just like watching Brazil'. Those Dingles were having a proper party. Cannot remember that mcuh of the game except them dominating and Nicky Eaden finishing us off late on.

Wilson did get Barnsley playing good football and it was under him (there most succesful era ever) that one of the mainstream commentators said 'it was like watching Brazil'.

That is what I am saying Pinch. I hope Piggy Wilson does not bring any of that 'Brazil' nonsense down to the Lane. Get Big Darius on and lump it up to him.

Certainly the best club team of my life time (born in 82). What a dream. I think they will go down as one of the best teams of all time, but it is difficult to compare. I (just about remember the AC Milan team of the late 80's/early 90's, with Gullit, Rijkaard and Van Basten, plus a (very young yet rock solid) defence of Baresi/Maldeni/Costacurta/Panucci. I hear a lot about the Real Madrid team with De Stefano in the 60's too.

and cheating.

that's the spirit Nuddy!! Non of this intelligent play, keeping the ball and making the most of what you have. Stay on you feet you fuckers. Unless someone breaks something stay on your feet. Never mind this trickery. If it was up to me Sheffield United would fill their team full of Henderson's and Morgan's and they would never fall over. Never mind these little puffs like Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. Going down under challenges because they are small. Ticky tacky passing. Yuk. Get the big lads in. Kick up up in the air. Stay on your feet. We are Sheffield United. Have it!

Best team in a generation and some people still want to call them. No pleasing some people. Last night they bossed the game without panicing when Man U equalised. Perfect team playing perfect football.

Can we please have a special section for Olle's regular trolling posts please?

you just cannot reist posting can you Houso. And you are the one that complains that myself and Mic are the one's that don't act in the spirit of the forum and do actions that are worse than insulting. You are a bigger hypocrite than those numpties down in the car park protesting for Piggy Wilson not go get the managers job.

Any updates to the comedic masterpiece that was the shed thread?

I missed the hilarious faux 'Yorkshire' accent in particular.

Piggy Wilson

When I see a Barcelona player being stretchered off when he hasn't even been touched to get an opposing player sent off then I think it's quite acceptable to "call them" on it.

I'm with Mourinho when it comes to the Barcelona love-in. They get away with murder. Each player takes it in turns to hassle the ref. When a player is 'tackled' they catch the ball on the way down to stop the game. They didn't do much of this yesterday as Man Utd never really put them under pressure.

I can't like them until they stop the cheating.
