It would be the fans, if they turned on Wilson after such a short time, who would be arrogant. I don't want Danny Wilson at all, but if he were to get the job it would exasperating to see him come under fan-pressure immedietly purely because some supporters can't take a step back from their personal and collective biases and be objective.

Whether its going to be a good decision or not (and his track record is hit and miss, to say the least), im convinced McCabe is genuinley trying to find the candidate he believes will do the best job.
Not wishing to get into a debate at this stage as the appointment has not yet been announced.
However there were not many who would say that Derek Dooley did not do a wonderful job at the lane, and has been sadly missed at the lane since his demise.
What club did he start out at and come from?

He was never manager Kenty

I am starting to think we will never get out club back

Putting the wednesday connections aside, it's just another guy from the managerial garbage pile. Has mCcabe no ambition at all?

The Wednesday connection doesn't really come into it for me as he did a great job there! He was the real instigator behind their eventual relegation and of course was the real pioneer in their demise.

But I don't want him anywhere near my club unless he's in the away dugout the lane managing another shite team!

Morgan wasn't with Wilson in 1997 was he, could have been you know. Cheers Morgs you cant

He certainly was. It could be argued he was the one who "brought him through the ranks", along with some of their other Youth team players.
We could have predicted this really. When McCabe said he was "going to consult with colleagues", who did we think he was going to ask!?
Birch is on his was out, the McCabe boys probably know even less about football than their Dad does. Chris Steer sells carpets.
Danny Wilson's name emerged very early but until now I never made the connection with Morgan.
With hindsight, it seems fairly clear that he was Morgan's choice and Pembo has gone along with it due to the "playing like Brazil" image.
Not who I wanted but I wish him all the best and hope he can be a success.

Danny Wilson?

Seriously, is that the best we can do?

I didn't want Robson, and I sure as hell don't want Danny Fucking Wilson.

What utter tripe some of you write. Wilson played for and managed the Pigs. He never supported them! Harry Maguire did, however. Shall we run him out of town?

Ability and style is all that matters. Wilson likes to play proper football. If he does that attractively and effectively he will be accepted in no time.

He would not be my choice; far from it. Neither would Robins. Wilson is not, however, the disaster waiting to happen that many of you would like to think. I'd far sooner have him than Quickfix Micky and his wretched crew or the Former Reserve Part-Time Non-League Goalkeeper.

Too bloody right.

Chris Morgan was at Barnsley from 1996 until he came to us in 2003. Danny Wilson was there from 1994 to 1998.

Didn't he get Barnsley promoted to the premier league? That is quite some achievement. Almost on a par with Warnock getting Notts County there as well.

I thought his middle name was Joseph.

no that was david (weird players from yugoslavia) pleat.. i man i rate so highly that i think we should have a statue of 'him' in the car park.. the man who destroyed wednesday :D

I had a good night on karaoke once, I had a belter, but i am not a singer, i've got a crap voice and have never sung well before or since...

Forget the wednesday connection he is just a shit manager with a crap record over 20 years. I didn't want Robins either for the same reason and he has no connection with wednesday. I can't believe this dross are the only managers we can attract, are we that low? We may as well have kept Adams.

Heres to another season of going nowhere and another new manager in October

He got a top six second division finish with Barnsley as well as a subsequent promotion from that division to the premier league with them. He got Bristol City into the third division play offs twice, and got Hartlepool promoted to that division. He also got Swindon to a third division play off final. His overall win rate is nearly 40%.

On the negative side he went down with Milton Keynes Dons, and was having a poor season with Wednesday when sacked by them.

More positives than negatives I think. Not the best record in the world, but by no stretch of any artistic licence could it be called poor.

love or hate danny wilson,i feel really sorry for the guy at present, mccabe is setting him on knowing his past and what the feelings of the fans are, (if he does,nt,he should sell up and fuck off now) if the blades dont hit the ground running and reel off 10 straight wins and no goals conceeded and are not 10 points clear at the top of the table by christmas the booing and wilson out chants will not take long to start, that will then get through to the players who will hence be scared to make a mistake and so on it starts again madness on mccabes part

No but none of his success is recent other than losing a play off final. Kevin Blackwell has lost two play off finals quite recently but no one is suggesting that he is right for the job. What I can't believe is that we cannot attract young up and coming managers. Wilson is just like Adams but without the connections to us

Hartlepool's promotion was only 4 years ago, and when he took over at Swindon they were struggling. In two years he got them to a play off final.

He isn't the only manager around to have struggled when his key players got sold.

Blackwell was not popular here, but even most people accept that we probably would not have had such a catastrophic season had he remained in charge. We would have been nowhere near promotion, but I doubt that we would have gone down either.

Point taken sheffielder, I was just saying that a Wednesday connection should not preclude a managerial appointment.
I am also not saying either that I agree with the choice if it comes to fruition as this name was not expected my me and many others.
Will will see at lunch time and if correct will not galvanise the fans .
