Sorry if I missed this in the thread, but are there any absent blades? Haven’t seen Berge anywhere. Wonder what that’s about.

Berge, Fleck are on holiday after international duty.

RND and Egan could have had a holiday too but decided to come back and impress the gaffer.

JOC is nowhere near playing and isn't there.

Ramsdale is with England.

Who’s Norway played in recent weeks?

That’ll be his excuse when he’s not match fit for the first 6 games no doubt. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him start a season in decent nick.
Flecks got a nice contract + is not bothered any more - his star is fading fast - have a look at his performances last season.
If Boris the Blade tolerates that level of application from Fleck then
I will eat my DVD of 'Snatch'.

Fleck had a serious back injury last season (done playing for Scotland) not to mention another couple of injuries, he played a number of games while not 100% fit and was lucky the back injury didn't keep him out for most of the season.

I do accept your point about the injury but I feel his "fade-out" is not all down to that.
It's all about opinions + I would love to see the old Fleck return.
But given his injury + his traditional slow start to any season , I was rather hoping he would get to Spain + prove his fitness & his worth to the new manager.
It speaks volumes to me that he's not bothered to go.
It's a lucrative & short career - he should be grabbing every precious moment of it.

He did test positive aswell, could still be suffering we don’t know

Completely disagree, on top of his injuries, relegation, he has been part of the Scotland squad for the Euro's and then caught Covid and self isolated, the guy needs some time away from football, he has a family, he needs some time away.
Your judging him because Egan and RND opted to come back early, that's fine, I applaud them, but not everyone is the same, as for his traditional slow start to every season, what stats are you using to claim that?

I actually think it will be beneficial if Fleck has a bit of time off to properly recover from last seasons injuries and then covid in the summer. I think he was desperate for some down time and I was pissed off that he was then part of an extended season by being part of the Scotland squad. He would have burnt out quicker this season if he had been back in training this week. Needs a bit more rest and then get him back in in a week or so and it's time to crack on again son.

He desperately needed some time off, I thought.

Whilst I wouldn’t begrudge him the time off I don’t think it’s any secret it has taken him a few games to get going every season he’s been here - anyone who’s watched us could tell you that without the need for statistics. Wilder had even said as much.

Weeks ago ! Is he still suffering ?
Been about 5 weeks since he was reported to have tested positive. You can definitely incubate it for 14 days so potential or either being extra cautious or giving him time to fully recover

Hes had time off, he's not.kicked a ball for Scotland. He should be raring to go, first league game is 4 weeks tomorrow.

Let's see if he's fit for the start of the season as we arent exactly overflowing with options in the middle of the park and we need to hit the ground running.

Looks like he's slept on damp newspaper...

Not a fan of sleeve tattoos as a rule. They tend to blur then just look a bit... mucky.

I hope someone has sorted Osborn out with some factor 50:

Burke really looks like he should be going 12 rounds with a cruiserweight.

Fleck was injured most of last season even when playing, we just had nobody else to play.

You think after 4 years he just decided he couldn't be bothered anymore lol.

I think there are elements of truth in many of the above comments. He’s possibly lamenting the end of his international career too?
He has served both club and country well over the years. Add in the mental pressures of the pandemic on a family man, who has been through all the issues above, and I can’t be too critical of his current choices, whatever the defying reason might be. 🤷‍♂️

Didn't he have 2 broken bones in his back and finished the season injured. Although he didn't play for Scotland he would have trained most days. I think we should cut him some slack and see how he comes back. Add to having a very young family in Sheffield and being unable to rely on any family to help, all these things add up.

I'm hoping that with some proper rest this pre season and time for his back to heal properly, that he comes back a different player this season to the pale shadow of the player that we saw all of the last one. Something just wasn't right with him last season. Hopefully he will be back to what he was in 2019 and the player we saw in December against Villa at the Lane. He would be some player then for the Championship.

It’s just occurred to me that there’s one glaring omission from the 23’s and that’s sam graham. It might signal the end of his time with us as he’s now 20 going on 21 and hasn’t had a successful football league loan.

I think he’s got another year left on his deal. Gordon was ahead of him last year and now Lopata seems to have jumped ahead. These 2 are younger. Graham needs a good loan spell.

I agree just think him being left at home when so many youngsters travelled might be quite telling. As you say 2 of the other Younger 23’s have clearly jumped ahead of him and there will be others coming behind him. He could well be in a situation where he needs a good loan move to put himself in other managers minds ready for next summer.

Graham
Always thought it was his physical size that made him stand out in the relevant age group games he played and not his football ability. Did not on my opinion possess the skill to make it in pro football, hope he proves me wrong

I watched a few of the streamed games and he looked very comfortable most of the time, but v Swansea struggled with the pace of one of their strikers a couple of times.
I’ve not seen Lopata but Gordon looks quick.
